WTHarvey:
There once was a website named WTHarvey,
Where chess puzzles did daily delay,
The brain-teasers so tough,
They made us all huff and puff,
But solving them brought us great satisfaction today.

There once was a website named WTHarvey
Where chess puzzles were quite aplenty
With knight and rook and pawn
You'll sharpen your brain with a yawn
And become a master of chess entry

There once was a site for chess fun,
Wtharvey.com was the chosen one,
With puzzles galore,
It'll keep you in store,
For hours of brain-teasing, none done.

There once was a website named WTHarvey,
Where chess puzzles were posted daily,
You'd solve them with glee,
And in victory,
You'd feel like a true chess prodigy!

"Silence is the sleep that nourishes wisdom." ― Francis Bacon

"Discipline is wisdom and vice versa." ― M. Scott Peck

The Two Friends

Two friends, in Monomotapa,
Had all their interests combined.
Their friendship, faithful and refined,
Our country can't exceed, do what it may.
One night, when potent Sleep had laid
All still within our planet's shade,
One of the two gets up alarmed,
Runs over to the other's palace,
And hastily the servants rallies.
His startled friend, quick armed,
With purse and sword his comrade meets,
And thus right kindly greets:
"You seldom com'st at such an hour;
I take you for a man of sounder mind
Than to abuse the time for sleep designed.
Have lost your purse, by Fortune's power?
Here's mine. Have suffered insult, or a blow,
I have here my sword – to avenge it let us go." "No," said his friend, "no need I feel
Of either silver, gold, or steel;
I thank you for your friendly zeal.
In sleep I saw you rather sad,
And thought the truth might be as bad.
Unable to endure the fear,
That cursed dream has brought me here."

Which think you, reader, loved the most!
If doubtful this, one truth may be proposed:
There's nothing sweeter than a real friend:
Not only is he prompt to lend –
An angler delicate, he fishes
The very deepest of your wishes,
And spares your modesty the task
His friendly aid to ask.
A dream, a shadow, wakes his fear,
When pointing at the object dear.

Question: What U.S. state's constitution is the longest in the world? Answer: Alabama – 310,000 words.

Question: What country has the most vending machines per capita? Answer: Japan – one for every 23 people.

"Chess is the gymnasium of the mind." — Blasie Pascal

"Sometimes in life, and in chess, you must take one step back to take two steps forward." — IM Levy Rozman, GothamChess

So much, much, much better to be an incurable optimist than deceitful and untrustworthy.

Steinitz's Theory

1. At the beginning of the game, Black and White are equal.

2. The game will stay equal with correct play on both sides.

3. You can only win by your opponent's mistake.

4. Any attack launched in an equal position will not succeed, and the attacker will suffer.

5. You should not attack until an advantage is obtained.

6. When equal, do not seek to attack, but instead, try to secure an advantage.

7. Once you have an advantage, attack or you will lose it.

: Z stoner has broken the rules for so long that it believes the rules do not apply to Z stoner. Thus, the manipulation to get around the rules yet again. Gee, thanks Pete. Some of my relevant posts on various pages have been deleted, while the troll posts were left intact. That too is a long-standing problem that MS was a huge fan of. "<Missy> get on it!" is Z stoner's battle cry.

What description do you suppose perfidious is calling me today? A hoodlum, a pervert, a panty sniffer, orange hair criminal bear?

MORE evidence you say? The evidence is SCREAMING on this very forum. Even the (kibitz #1) mentioned above is full of cyberbullying by the SAME old pack of vultures. I made a simple chess post and was immediately attacked. Those disparaging posts haven't been deleted either.

There's no need to stall anymore. Take care of the problem. It's a decades old problem that all the regulars know about. You don't need more evidence, you need backbone.

This garbage currently sits in your forum:

<Nov-26-22 stone free or die: And, pray tell, what you were doing over on the Bistro today?! You had two full days to call <jnpope> on off-topic posts, but you followed me over there first thing today, like the bad, bad bear you are.>

The sicko thinks I should have been reading the Bio Bistro on Thanksgiving Day, not the next day, trying to dictate my schedule again. Remember last week's false accusation of a 24+ hour binge? I left a three-word post: <"off-topic post"> which was accurate and wrongly deleted. Yet, the sicko is using that three-word post to castigate me as a "bad, bad, bear." Why is this allowed to stand Pete?

What's more no member owns a CG page and gets to forbid other members from posting on it. When members make erroneous/useless posts, they'd better expect to be corrected. <"off-topic post"> was indeed what it was.

<Nov-26-22 stone free or die: Oh <Fred>, when it comes to drips you're the biggest pond of 'em all. But please try to play the victim card some more. It's what all bullies do in the end. (And they all meet their end, sooner or later)>

Seriously Pete? What if FTB HAD written that threat? FTB would be suspended for two weeks. Seriously Pete?

Stoner pesters other posters with useless off-topic drool hoping to break up any chess conversation and drive folks away from posting. Well, take a look around. Perhaps 20% of the membership remains that formerly used the website on a weekly basis. These CG trolls have done great damage to this website over the years driving others away. It's about time somebody woke up and smelled the coffee.

perfidious routinely assassinates my image and character by his distorted fabrications of FTB. He enjoys being a vicious stalker. The website just turns a blind eye to it all, allowing perfidious to accost any soul he so desires.

And MY relevant-to-the-topic posts were deleted?

The Lion and the Gnat

"Go, paltry insect, nature's meanest brat!"
Thus said the royal lion to the gnat.
The gnat declared immediate war.
"Think you," said he, "your royal name
To me worth caring for?
Think you I tremble at your power or fame?
The ox is bigger far than you;
Yet him I drive, and all his crew."
This said, as one that did no fear owe,
Himself he blew the battle charge,
Himself both trumpeter and hero.
At first he played about at large,
Then on the lion's neck, at leisure, settled,
And there the royal beast full sorely nettled.
With foaming mouth, and flashing eye,
He roars. All creatures hide or fly, –
Such mortal terror at
The work of one poor gnat!
With constant change of his attack,
The snout now stinging, now the back,
And now the chambers of the nose;
The pigmy fly no mercy shows.
The lion's rage was at its height;
His viewless foe now laughed outright,
When on his battle-ground he saw,
That every savage tooth and claw
Had got its proper beauty
By doing bloody duty;
Himself, the hapless lion, tore his hide,
And lashed with sounding tail from side to side. Ah! bootless blow, and bite, and curse!
He beat the harmless air, and worse;
For, though so fierce and stout,
By effort wearied out,
He fainted, fell, gave up the quarrel.
The gnat retires with verdant laurel.
Now rings his trumpet clang,
As at the charge it rang.
But while his triumph note he blows,
Straight on our valiant conqueror goes
A spider's ambuscade to meet,
And make its web his winding-sheet.

We often have the most to fear
From those we most despise;
Again, great risks a man may clear,
Who by the smallest dies.

The Human Seasons
by John Keats

Four Seasons fill the measure of the year;
There are four seasons in the mind of man:
He has his lusty Spring, when fancy clear
Takes in all beauty with an easy span:
He has his Summer, when luxuriously
Spring's honied cud of youthful thought he loves To ruminate, and by such dreaming high
Is nearest unto heaven: quiet coves
His soul has in its Autumn, when his wings
He furleth close; contented so to look
On mists in idleness—to let fair things
Pass by unheeded as a threshold brook.
He has his Winter too of pale misfeature,
Or else he would forego his mortal nature.

A toast to friendship:

‘Here's to Tall Ships,
Here's to Small Ships,
Here's to all the Ships at Sea.
But the best Ships are Friendships,
Here's to You and Me!'

The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow - 1807-1882

The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
Along the sea-sands damp and brown
The traveller hastens toward the town,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

Darkness settles on roofs and walls,
But the sea, the sea in darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands,
Efface the footprints in the sands,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

The morning breaks; the steeds in their stalls
Stamp and neigh, as the hostler calls;
The day returns, but nevermore
Returns the traveller to the shore,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

A jester, court jester, fool or joker was a member of the household of a nobleman or a monarch employed to entertain guests during the medieval and Renaissance eras. Jesters were also itinerant performers who entertained common folk at fairs and town markets, and the discipline continues into the modern day, where jesters perform at historical-themed events.

During the Middle Ages, jesters are often thought to have worn brightly colored clothes and eccentric hats in a motley pattern. Their modern counterparts usually mimic this costume. Jesters entertained with a wide variety of skills: principal among them were song, music, and storytelling, but many also employed acrobatics, juggling, telling jokes (such as puns, stereotypes, and imitation), and performing magic tricks. Much of the entertainment was performed in a comic style. Many jesters made contemporary jokes in word or song about people or events well known to their audiences.
