Mar-14-03  Bears092: today we learn... in the sicilian when white plays d4, you take it!
Mar-15-03  ughaibu: Another line where black doesn't take is the hyper accelerated fianchetto: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 g6 3.d4 Bg7
Oct-17-05  sneaky pete: <blackkangaroo> I suppose you mean 6... Bxd1 7.Bb5+ Qd7 8.Bxd7+ Kd8 9.Nxf7+ Kxd7 10.Nxh8 Bh5 11.Be2 .. which would be even worse for black.

Altmeister Ludwig Rellstab has for centuries been the compiler of the section <Lerne durch Kurzpartien> (learn through short games) in the German magazine Schach Echo, it must have pleased him to include this home-grown ditty.

tpstar: Black had to play 5 ... Bxf3 6. Qxf3 Ne5/Nb8 7. Bb5+ Nd7 and White is much better but Black lives for now.

Another winning line is 6 ... Bxd1 7. Bb5+ Qd7 8. Bxd7+ Kd8 9. Kxd1 dxe5 10. Ba4 and White is up a clear piece.

A good example of how the Nf3 is under a relative pin, but not an absolute pin. This motif frequently occurs combined with Bishop checks on b5 or f7.

Feb-13-06  pwrstick: Wow. To a beginner like myself that was very interesting.
Mar-17-06  McCool: Ludwig Rellstab thinking, "Thank God he's as idiot."
Aug-22-09  mtaghiloo: this is only overlook for black
