 | | OhioChessFan: So sad to hear. One of the funniest people ever, on this site. |
|
Aug-26-20 | | Gregor Samsa Mendel: Too many people associated with this site are dying much too young. Tony Palmer loved chess and chessgames, and did much for both. RIP. |
|
Aug-26-20 | | morfishine: Goodbye Mr. Palmer, hard to believe the <tpstar> is gone |
|
Aug-26-20 | | TheFocus: Very sad news to hear.
R.I.P. Tony. |

 | | HeMateMe: My condolences to his family and loved ones. I certainly didn't agree with TP's politics but enjoyed his posting, comments, here. Regular contributors are the backbone of a site like this. |

 | | Ron: I too give my condolences to his family and loved ones. Actually a major difference I had with <tpstar> was his anti-Kramnik attitude. But one time he complimented me on my queen sacrifice game collections, he said he used some games from it in his chess instruction. Rest In Peace. |

 | | fredthebear: No WAY! (An expression of shock, denial, disbelief.) That's just awful news.
You will be missed <tpstar>. |

 | | TheAlchemist: Terrible news, this is really tragic. Tony was one of the first kibitzers to welcome me to the site all those years ago, he was very helpful, he would pop out of nowhere with some obscure finds from the site, he was witty too, who could forget his annotations set to song lyrics, or how he could come up with a half dozen crazy good puns in minutes, the epic Kramniad, and many other legendary moments. Maybe we didn't interact as much in the last few years, but you will be missed. Rest in peace. |

Sep-12-20 | | Caissanist: Just now saw the news, stunned and saddened. RIP to one of the site's best kibitzers! |
|
Sep-12-20 | | Jambow: Surprised and saddened by the news and <chrisowen> thanks for the link to the tribute. That one of his students was or is Michigan State champion is a nice chess legacy. |

 | | Richard Taylor: I didn't get on particularly well with tpstar but it is sad to see such a young man die. What did he die of? Did he overreact to this Covid Pandemic and his business issues? Or was he ill? My condolences to Tony's family. |

 | | FSR: OMG. This is just horrible. I am so sorry. Tony was a great guy. He was far too young to die. My condolences to his family. 2020 continues to be a year from hell. |

 | | Richard Taylor: I think Tony overall was a good bloke and he did take an interest in some of my games in the early days. It is a shock to see another "veteran" go from chessgames.com. He got bogged down in some "internal" political issues and with the notoriously degenerate & vicious Rogoff-BP group, and a debate about Wesley So which seemed crazy to me: but those things are of trivial people and trivial events I believe he was better than the Rogoffers & other sickos on here: he did a lot it can be seen for chess (coaching, playing etc) and no doubt as a medical man. His commentaries as kind of poems on his own games were good and he played some interesting games. And indeed, he did help me. He was a strongly rated player considering he wasn't a professional.... |
