Could we get a nice photo, perhaps?>

Yes, but he will look much older than he does in this one.

Nov-17-14  thegoodanarchist: This guy lost to Tal, Fischer, Polgar and Spassky! Four world champions. I have never even seen 4 world champions in my life, let alone played against them.

FSR: Csom also had a loss and a draw against Karpov. http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... The loss was a brilliant swindle by Karpov from a winning position for Csom. http://bit.ly/1t0zVgi

Good find, <FSR>. I might add that Karpov's combination made it into "The Black Book", which officially is called The Encyclopedia of Chess Middlegames. It is puzzle #517, in the category "clearance of a diagonal"

FSR: Reportedly he has recently died.
Jul-28-21  Z truth 000000001: OK, so the bio is updated with dod, but using what source?!

FSR didn't mention any, and wiki is still not mentioning his passing (not even the Magyar page). I think the biographer might add a note in the comments (which would be helpful for more info for the interested, one assumes).

Aside - unusual to see an Indonesian page for him on wiki.

FSR: <Z truth 000000001> I just saw a photocopy of an article from an unnamed source on Facebook. If I'd had an authoritative source I would have mentioned it and updated Csom's bio myself.

Jul-29-21  Z truth 000000001: As <Tab> noted elsewhere, this problem originated when <steve> fixed the utf-8 posting problem.

Hopefully, the db data is still intact and it's only the presentation layer munging the data.

I posted a notice in <steve>'s forum early on, where I compared a wayback archive copy of Stanley's page (which showed most of the ?'s were just ascii apostrophes, unlike the case here).
