Nov-05-04  patzer2: <mynameisrandy> To be honest I'm mostly working on tactics and middle games and am only scratching the surface in endgame study. I find that playing blitz and rapid games develops bad habits and seems to work against searching for and making the best moves.

Of course it's interesting to look at someone like Kramnik who seems to indicate that fully understanding the depth and intricacy of the game is beyond the grasp of even the Super GMs. Leko certainly felt unprepared as he was forced into playing 1. d4 against Kramnik. So, perhaps I should just jump in and enjoy a few tournaments.

Nov-05-04  mynameisrandy: Well, good luck to you, whatever you decide. As for blitz and rapid working against accuracy, you are probably right, but if loving blitz is wrong, I don't want to be right. :)
Nov-05-04  acirce: Personally I'm playing a 7-round weekend tournament tomorrow and Sunday, a few rapid games mixed with a few rated .. conveniently enough it's in my home town for a change.
Nov-05-04  iron maiden: <acirce> Good luck this weekend!
Nov-05-04  acirce: Thanks. Been preparing all day. I have lost my latest two rated games, although against good opposition, so I would like at least a decent result here.
Nov-05-04  Eatman: Good luck <acirce> ! Now that you found my games here, do you have your own games on chessgames ? :)
Nov-05-04  Strategic Joker: i got a question about this opening , is c3 by white inferior opening move ?

Sneaky: I wouldn't say c3 is inferior but in many people's opinion it's not as enterprising as c4 which would have forced Black to play the not-very-respected Chigorin Defense.

Sneaky: acirce, yes good luck to you, post a game on the Cafe when its over if you like.
Nov-05-04  Benzol: All the best for the tournament <acirce>. Let us know how you get on.
Nov-06-04  acirce: <Eatman> I'm not good enough....yet! Although I have played a couple of games against titled players that I guess I could upload. Thanks to <Sneaky> and <Benzol>, I'll leave right now and return with a first-day report at about midnight local time. :)
Nov-06-04  Strategic Joker: <acirce> Gl , and if u want , we can play with post moderm :) i bet that would help , i improved my playing lvl :)problably a little beyond 2000 :) been watching the roman series DVD from GM dizindizaly or however you spell it :)
Nov-06-04  acirce: I hate this stupid game.

Well, not really, but 50% against a rating average of approximately 1910 so far (Swedish ratings, generally a bit higher than ELO) doesn't make me happy. Full report tomorrow. :-) These are rapid games AND rated btw.

Nov-06-04  Strategic Joker: acirce , whats ur real life name , so i can chck ur games ? also do you know how to transform BCF into fide rating ??
Nov-06-04  acirce: My real name is visible on User Profile: acirce

BCF<=>FIDE: I don't know, a quick google search gives you hits like http://www.chessville.com/misc/misc... and http://www.4ncl.co.uk/conversion.htm

Now I must get some sleep. Just wanted to make a quick visit.

  Chessical: <Strategic Joker> BCF rating to FIDE = BCF rating x 8 + 600.

Therefore, FIDE 2000 = 175 BCF.

Nov-07-04  acirce: I won both games today, but I'm not going to mention that my opponent didn't turn up to the first one because he overslept. Totally I scored the mediocre 1.5/3 in the rated games against an average of about 1850, significantly better in the rapid games though, who said those don't count? ;-)
Aug-09-05  Averageguy: <acirce> Where from Sweden are you? I'm half Swedish!
Aug-09-05  acirce: Hi <Averageguy>. I live in UmeĆ„, northern part of the country. How are you connected to Sweden?
Aug-09-05  Averageguy: Hi <acirce> I am connected to sweden through my mothers side, and I have alot of relatives there.
May-25-06  Confuse: im impressed. csom has had some spectacular losses, im glad he had some brilliant games as well. well played!
May-06-18  drpoundsign: WOW! csom seemed to be losing, and then he was winning. What would the continuation be?? If I were him, I still would have castled queenside.
May-06-18  morfishine: Another absolute failure of a Game Title

My, My, this site is sure full of slow learners. First off, 'Csom" sounds absolutely nothing like 'Some'

Which in itself, is a totally lame reference to a 1987 film 'Some Kind of Wonderful' which has ZERO reference to Chess, this chess game, either chess player, the venue, any known opening, etc.

Why does such garbage as this get through? I thought stuff like this was picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays

I have to disagree. most here learn very quick that your comments are flat, keep repeating and are totally pointless.

They just have the decency to ignore your comments like yesterday's papers.

May-06-18  Marmot PFL: Several songs have that title, this is probably the best known version.
