Feb-09-15 | | Appaz: Congratulations to Naiditsch!
He beat the World Champ in classical chess and tied him in the tournament. Then he held the World Champ of rapids to a tie. Then he held the World Camp of blitz to a tie, before finally giving in on the Armageddon. I'm sure most people rooted for this underdog in the end. It probably felt a little bad to lose that last game but that feeling will soon pass. Something to be proud of, the whole chess world is impressed! |

 | | AylerKupp: <Natalia Pogonina> Just think, the <chessgames.com> World Team was able to defeat the player who has recently defeated Carlsen twice in a row, yet we were only able to draw against you. Either you are better than some may think or maybe the <chessgames.com> World Team (and our chess engines!) is getting better. Or maybe a little of both. ;-) |

He bangs the clock, caughs non-stop and plays the moves instantly without writing the move of the opponent down. Well, a lot of young players behave very badly at the board these days and I am sure that the incident of Wesley So during the US Championship where he got a 0 for writing strange things on his scoresheet will not be the last time he breaks the ethic chess rules."> |

The future of main sponsor and backer of the Bundesliga and German chess in general 'GRENKE' (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grenke) is heavily questioned these days by the public. Because the group has been accused of large scale money laundering and falsification of accounts investigations by the authorities are on its way, while a shift ot attention is noticed towards the accusor Fraser Perring's own financial gain for publishing the allogations. Perring is not only a former employee and enigmatic investor from Cantabury (UK) but an avid chessplayer himself. In fact losing Grenke unprepared for the already planned 2021 campaign could turn out to be fatal for several (semi-)professional players' careers. Since Germany has not produced a single male/female top player for ages public interest plummeted into obscure media niches thus depending on few wealthy patrons. At this point the worst case scenario is unlikely, but together with an ongoing pandemic the German chess federation (DSB) has to produce evidence to counter these fears. |

Mar-02-21 | | Refused: Small additions/corrections to the Biography.
Naiditsch is a German citizen. (naturalized around 2005, I think, I am not sure about the exact year/date, but it was round about that year). Also him and Shvayger are divorced by now.
Fun story. Arkadij has earnt himself a rep to be kinda jerk. So he locked horns with a lot of the higher ups in the German Chess Federation (at the core of it being lack of financial backing) thus he switched federations over to Azerbaijan. Him and Shvayger didn't enjoy Baku, and only stayed there for 9 months or so. Then they moved around a bit, first Budapest, then Israel. Naiditsch resides atm in Greece. He wants to switch back to the German Chess Federation, and like I said, he has earnt himself a certain rep and has left quite a bit of scorched earth behind, so the German Chess Federation told him: <Nope. You are a persona non grata here.> Note, the Azeris do not demand a release fee for him to switch back. And Arkadji has expressed his willingness to pay the FIDE fees (for the paperworks apparently) himself.
The situation is quite comical, really. A German is prohibited to play under the German flag. I am sure it's not the first this happened, historically speaking. But I assume it's been a good 80 years since one of the leading German players was not allowed to represent Germany. |
