Sep-07-11 | | twinlark: I'm an Aussie, but I appreciate a fighter when I see one, and PHN is right up there, if this second game is any indication. In some ways, this was an even better result than Polgar's (without taking anything away from her sheer tenacity and determination) as her opponent was nominally at a similar rating level, while coming from behind to level the match against Gashimov, who's rated significantly higher and was actually fifth on the live ratings at that point was outstanding. It was interesting that the turning point of the game came soon <after> the time control. Great win! |

Sep-07-11 | | kia0708: so far for me Judit Polgar's and Nielsen's games were the most interesting |
Sep-08-11 | | Poulsen: <twinlark><I'm an Aussie, but I appreciate a fighter when I see one, and PHN is right up there, if this second game is any indication> For me it is also very nice to see PHN fighting like this against world class opposition. At times he has had - IMO - some problems mustering this kind of spirit when meeting strong GM's in tournaments - being a little too satisfied with splitting points. If the tournaments system is changed - as some has suggested - so that every round has to find a winner, then that might actually benefit PHN. In any case: at the moment he seems stronger than ever - even if he ends up losing to Gashimov. |
Sep-08-11 | | Appaz: Too bad for PHN, but he had a good run and fought with excellent spirit! Only losers are satisfied with losing, but there is no reason for him to be too depressed, too long. |
Sep-08-11 | | twinlark: <Appaz>
Absolutely right. It was sad to see him so bereft at the post match interview, but when he gets over the Cup hangover he'll cheer up, hopefully, when he realises how admirably he performed both in terms of attitude and results. |

Sep-08-11 | | Rareswow: Great player ! He proved it at the world cup ! |
Sep-08-11 | | SimonWebbsTiger: we are all tickled pink that Heine proved he deserved his World Cup wild card. He did himself proud. His other half did well, of course, at the Women's Rapid at the recent Botvinnik Memorial. |

Sep-09-11 | | Poulsen: LOL - Chessbase.com calls him "norwegian" - sometimes I wonder, who actually writes those articles on Chessbase. They sometimes reveals a lack precise knowledge. |
Sep-10-11 | | whiteshark: <Poulsen> Europe is just a better country, particularly the north... |
Sep-16-11 | | Poulsen: <whiteshark> I may be missing your point (sorry), but Europe is not a country - its a continent - or a swedish rockband, if you like. PHN used to coach Magnus Carlsen at some point - maybe that's why some falls under the illusion, that he is norwegian. Nothing wrong with norwegians, mind you :-) |

Sep-16-11 | | SimonWebbsTiger: Bloody amazing that the biggest Danish talent since Bent Larsen (and a second for Carlsen and Anand) is called Norwegian! I shall have to ask him 22 Sept. 2011 at a lecture, here in Denmark, what he makes of these "Norwegian" accusations! :D |

 | | alexmagnus: <They sometimes reveals a lack precise knowledge.> Nothing comparable with a <Moldavian> chess site which instead of the news of <GM Bologan reaching round 2 of the World Cup> wrote about <IM Bologan reaching round 2 of the Moldavia Cup>. It didn't bother the news agency that the "Moldavia Cup" was held in Russia and the opponent in round 1 was a Pole (both being mentioned in the news message, though the name of the Pole was written wrong). The message ended with a mysterious sentence "playing with black chesses (!), our sportsman will compete in round 2". |

I think it is safe to say Peter Heine is a tad busy, yes. |
