NODIRBEK ABDUSATTOROV (born Sep-18-2004, 20 years old) Uzbekistan [what is this?] Nodirbek Abdusattorov was awarded the title of FIDE Master after becoming the 2012 Under-8 World Champion. He achieved the IM title in 2017. On October 29, 2017, he became the second-youngest Grandmaster in history (behind Sergey Karjakin) at the age of 13 years, 1 month, and 11 days, a position he held until June 2018 when Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa became a GM before age 13. He was the runner-up (behind Nihal Sarin) at the World U10 Championship 2014. He scored 6/10 as his team's 4th board at the 2014 World Youth Team Chess Olympiad. At the World Cup (2021) he eliminated Chithambaram V R Aravindh and then Anish Giri 3-1 (+2 -0 =2), before falling to Vasif Durarbayli 4-2 (+2 -4). He finished third at the Kramnik Challenge (2021), and second (+8 -1 =6) at the Tolstoy Memorial (2021). At the FIDE Grand Swiss (2021) he broke even with 5.5/11 (+2 -2 =7). At the World Rapid Championship (2021) he achieved one of the most shocking results by an outsider in chess history, the rapid equivalent of Harry Nelson Pillsbury 's immortal triumph at Hastings (1895). Abdusattorov scored 9.5-3.5, tying for first with World Champion Magnus Carlsen, 2021 world championship challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi, and 2018 challenger Fabiano Caruana. En route, he defeated, among others, Carlsen, Caruana, world No. 6 Levon Aronian, and 2012 world championship challenger Boris Gelfand. Of the four tied players, Abdusattorov had the best tiebreaks and Nepomniachtchi the second best, so the two of them advanced to a playoff for the title. Abdusattorov won 1.5-.5, winning the title to become, at 17, the youngest World Rapid Champion ever.
