Yes, nice finding.

  Messiah: Puzzle time!

Construct a perfectly regular chess game in which White's moves are 1. f3, 2. Kf2, 3. Kg3, 4. Kh4, and Black mates in the 4th move.

(unfortunately there are at least two solutions - at least I found two, but I believe there are no more than that)

Tougher than I expected. g3 is the real sore point. I guess the first 2 moves are interchangeable if that's what the 2 solutions are.

I saw that quickly, but didn't think it counted because White had g4 to block check.

I guess it depends how you read <and Black mates in the 4th move.>?

(I wanted to deliver an actual checkmate)

Started looking at this idea:

but couldn't get it to work.

  diceman: When you allow White only those moves,
and make believe mates, you can do stuff like this:

1.f3 d5 2.Kf2 Qd7 3.Kg3 a6 4.Kh4 Qg4+

  OhioChessFan: <g4>

Whoops.

d5, Nf6, Ne4, e5 doesn't cover h5. d5, h5, Qd7, Qf4 has the g4 interposition. Covering g3 is a problem in most lines.

4...Be7

3...Qxf3+ is almost as convenient as my 4...Qg4! :)

  Messiah: Today's news:

1. Although I am fully vaccinated, today I'm startin' a 21-days run of home office because of the fever and full blast weakness I woke up with.

2. The CG staff is really, really mad, they've got enough of my tiny joke of submitting absolutely random games to analysis, so I can't do it anymore. TERRIBLE!

Can you provide a link to one of the random games you managed to analyze in the past?

Just so we can know what we'll be missing.

I don't think it is possible to extract this information without access to this and that database under CG. However, I submitted lots of:

<Justin losses>

<1, 2, 3, 4 move games>

<Extremely long Stockfish games on the shortest possible analysis time>

<GOTDs and puzzles>

But sometimes I just click on the <random game> button to pollute the database with low quality computer analysis.

Sep-21-21  Z truth 000000001: Ahh, I see, randomness in action.

Did they take the button away from you like we did Trump?!
