WannaBe: <chancho> Remake?!?! Oy vey... Who is playing the role that was Ernest Borgnine??

chancho: <Wannabe> I don't know the cast for this movie. The special effects do seem to be better in this movie,(compared to the original) when I saw the preview.

WannaBe: Okay, got the morning paper, and the TV Guide inside...

Poseiden Adv. Steve Guttenberg, Rutger Hauer, Peter Weller, etc... In this one, the boat is capsized after a terrorist bomb blows up... NBC, channel 4 here in SoCal.

But it starts at 8 PM runs for 3 hrs. And I usually watch the Simpsons at 8 PM, and passes out around 9:30PM. =)

Nov-20-05  Akavall: <notsodeepthought> LoL, thats a pretty bad picture! It's stange she has it on the front page oh her website. Isn't it strange that there is a huge variance in Pähtz's pictures? Before anybody brings it up, I think it is unlikely that a picture in here is photoshoped, she has other other good pictures too.
Nov-20-05  notsodeepthought: <Akavall> OK, I deliberately pointed out a particularly screwed up photo (though as you noted, she's the one who put it on her front page). As for fashion sense, the hat or cap in the picture is not unusual for her - see for example two recent pictures from the world junior championship at http://www.chessbase.de/nachrichten... (which of course had to throw in the related silly pun, "gut behuetet", under the first photo).

Nov-20-05  DCP23: She's in the solo lead now with 8.5 points after 11 rounds!
Nov-20-05  Akavall: <notsodeepthought> Here is a really screwed up photo :)http://www.rochadekuppenheim.de/fig...

I did notice she wears that hat quite often, it must be her good luck hat :).

Nov-20-05  notsodeepthought: <Akavall> Or maybe her role model is Maya Chiburdanidze, another consummate hat wearer.
Nov-21-05  percyblakeney: Pähtz won against Mamedjarova after 112 moves and is leading with a whole point before the last round.
Nov-22-05  DCP23: A draw today, so Elisabeth wins the Championship with 10 out of 13.

Congratulations!!!

Nov-23-05  Karpova: Yes, great performance by Elizabeth, not losing a single game!
Nov-27-05  kidster: wow..what a girl...i am gonna get better at chess so that i will meet her someday..

lostemperor: <cu8sfan> I guess you're right. My message got deleted ahaha. It seems everyone else may use that word, except me. I thought it was clear I used that word in relation to Jennifer Shadade book. And I was only talking about looks and as a joke, not personal. Personally wouldn't be offended if someone call me (chess) bastard or say you look like a bastard to me;). I may even find it a compliment at times as was my intention here. It has become such a common word. So much for that article you gave. Some quotes from that article: < Personally, I find 95% of CHESS BITCH to be appropriate reading for anyone 14 on up> <Jennifer Shahade has given us a taste of the real chess experience in CHESS BITCH. She shares the ups and downs of past female players trying to gain respect in a male dominated sport>. I guess the admin. or people complaining are still bitching about the Word "Bitch". And to think that I have taken a stand for posting guidelines often enough here at chessgames.com. So I think I understand.

<weary willy: .. the board is the wrong way around> you're right. I didn't even notice. I guess I wasn't looking at the board.

Dec-03-05  KingG: <lostemperor> <My message got deleted ahaha.> That's pathetic. It was pretty clear that there was nothing malicious in your post.

cu8sfan: <lostemperor> I'm a bit surprised, too. It was very clear what you meant and how you meant it. And my post was only a joke.

lostemperor: <cu8sfan> so was mine. Sorry I got upset there for a moment. Like I said here was no problem that message got deleted. It's not that I never got deleted before on internet websites :). But there was no official protest published for that matter. While other blatant violating guidelines posts can stay. Still I want to apologise to chessgames if I give the impression I blame them for anything. I don't. And like I said I understood the delicateness of the subject. That's why I put a smiley on my deleted post just in case someone should misinterpret that that was a dead serious comment. Not that I thought it was necessary though. It was simply a chess reference to a "hot" topic of a recent book in case that wasn't absolutely clear already.

Mar-12-06  Raskolnikov: Does she think she looks better in uniform (http://www.womenchess.com/images/ga...)?
Mar-12-06  EmperorAtahualpa: <Raskolnikov> Are you sure that's her? It doesn't say so in the subtitle at the website.
Mar-13-06  JohnSilver: She is (was) the only participant from Germany: it is Elisabeth. BTW there is no "bar" (dont know the English word) on her shoulders: possibly she is new in the army.

cu8sfan: <Does she think she looks better in uniform?> That must be her. She joined the army last year. I think the reason is that the German army pays scholarships for professional athletes. It will allow her to play chess for a living with a regular income.
