 | | saffuna: Unfortunately the Cubs in the Series this year will/would be a bit of an anti-climax, because it will mean one of the teams with the long drought will definitely win: Cleveland or Chicago. Now if Cleveland had had a bit more luck in game seven in 1997... |
|
Oct-23-16 | | YouRang: Well, congrats to all of the Cubs fans out there! The 71-year streak is over. Now they can go to work on the 108 year streak! Dodgers seemed to run out of gas after the first 3 games... |

 | | cu8sfan: I never thought I would live to see the <Cubs> win a pennant - now all they need is four more wins! :-) |

 | | saffuna: <I never thought I would live to see the <Cubs> win a pennant - now all they need is four more wins! :-)> I can understand why. The Cubs had lost six straight games where a win would have sent them to the Series. Three in 1984 and threee in 2003. |

 | | cu8sfan: Thank you, my dear friends! Every year for the last 20 years I told my boss if the <Cubs> play in the World Series, I'll be off to Chicago. For 20 years I was saving money to make sure it would happen. My boss always laughed it off, and now I'm here, what a party that was last night at <Wrigley>, I saw the Cubs lose game 4 7-2, but always thought they'd come back. As a baseball fan, this game 7 was one for the ages, one of the best baseball games I've ever seen. As a Cubs fan, the party that followed, people hugging on the streets, highfiving each other, I'm still speechless. To all my friends from Cleveland, hang in there, your time will come, and it will be great celebrating! |

Nov-03-16 | | Travis Bickle: Congrats! |
|
Nov-03-16 | | YouRang: Finally! And what a game that was! The looooong wait has ended. Congrats to all the <Cu8sfan>s out there! |
|
Nov-03-16 | | YouRang: I don't know about you, but I always had the feeling that if the Cubs ever won a World Series, it would never be a relatively easy 4, 5, or even 6 game series. It would have to go the full seven games, and that game would go down to the wire. Funny how feelings like that sometimes play out in real life. :-) Kind of a bummer for Cleveland fans, but hey, they won the last basketball championship, so they can wait a little longer for baseball. |

 | | WannaBe: <Cu8sfan> Funny graphics on TV last night before the game started, it had stats from StubHub on the average cost of the tickets during the series. Cheapest ticket price & highest ticket price, but the one thing that caught my eye, was this line: <Countries outside of US that have purchased tickets: 16> (I think it was 16... could have been higher/lower). One of the 16 was you, I'm guessing. |

 | | OhioChessFan: I really had no rooting interest but wanted a good series. I got that big time. |

 | | saffuna: <It would have to go the full seven games, and that game would go down to the wire.> Not only that, they had the final game won, then blew the lead, then won in extras. |
|
Nov-03-16 | | Travis Bickle: <saffuna> That's because Maddon gave the hook to his starting pitcher too soon.. |
|
Nov-03-16
 | | saffuna: I'll agree with that. Once it's the postseason, it seems pitchers are gone as soon as they give up a run or two. |

But on a serious note, just in case you didn't know, site owner Daniel Freeman recently passed away. This explains why the POTD is wack, as the site is running on auto pilot. Daniel Freeman |

 | | cu8sfan: The travellers trotted on, and as the sun began to sink towards the White Downs far away on the western horizon they came to Bywater by its wide pool; and there they had their first really painful shock. This was Frodo and Sam’s own country, and they found out now that they cared about it more than any other place in the world. Many of the houses that they had known were missing. Some seemed to have been burned down. The pleasant row of old hobbit-holes in the bank on the north side of the Pool were deserted, and their little gardens that used to run down bright to the water’s edge were rank with weeds. Worse, there was a whole line of the ugly new houses all along Pool Side, where the Hobbiton Road ran close to the bank. An avenue of trees had stood there. They were all gone. And looking with dismay up the road towards Bag End they saw a tall chimney of brick in the distance. It was pouring out black smoke into the evening air. |
