WTHarvey: Here is a little collection of puzzles from Leonid's games: http://www.wtharvey.com/yuda.html
Jan-06-08  YouRang: A little observation: He had very different experiences with the Polgar sisters (at least according to this database)...

Leonid Yudasin beat <Judit> Polgar 4 to 0, with 2 draws.

<Zsuzsa> Polgar beat Leonid Yudasin 4 to 0, with 1 draw

Mar-25-08  thesonicvision: wow. i thought this was a chess
site. yes, the man's jewish.
moving on...

he's playing at a very high level in
the states right now. his uscf rating
is 2600+ and he keeps winning.

Mar-25-08  dx9293: He was also ranked as high as 7th or 8th in the World in the early 1990s.
Jan-14-09  Cactus: <YouRang> Yudasin vs Judit Polgar, 1991
Jan-14-09  hackmate: Yudasin also has a beard like the ZZ-Top band from the 80's.
Aug-08-09  wordfunph: GM Leonid Yudasin is an Orthodox Jew who can play on the Sabbath, but cannot keep score and thus gives up the option of making a time claim!

Happy Birthday GM Leonid Yudasin!

Aug-08-09  gendalf: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonid...
Aug-08-10  wordfunph: i forgot where i lifted this bit of info..

Lautier-Yudasin at the Manila 1990 Interzonal, yoga practitioner GM Leonid Yudasin meditated in lotus position for 20 minutes before making his first move. Some of the players, notably Short and Lautier, chuckled as they watched Yudasin do his act. "A bit strange." observed Chandler from afar. Yudasin lost his game against Joel Lautier.

happy birthday Leonid!

Aug-08-17  The Kings Domain: A staple from the good old days. Nice to see he's still around.
Aug-08-17  diagonal: Yudasin - The winner of <the inaugural edition at Pamplona Invitation Tournament> in December 1990 (9091), ahead of Viktor Korchnoi as sole second, and Zsuzsa (Susan) Polgar as clear third:

Pamplona 1990 was where Zsuzsa Polgar earned her final (male) GM norm to obtain the Grandmaster title by FIDE. Judit Polgar then missed a norm at same tournament. Pamplona always was a platform for young and rising players.

Yudasin (ranked as the world’s no.8= in January – June 1991), and Korchnoi were maybe also in training for their Candidate’s matches in the following January 1991 against Ivanchuk (a humiliating loss for Yudasin by 0.5-4.5) and Sax (4-4, Korchnoi at age of 60 advanced after rapid play-off), respectively.

PAMPLONA
A city of the north of Spain which has hosted 19 GM Tournaments (Magistral), held at end of Dec, or in Dec / Jan., mostly combined with an Open, already in 1985. The series lasted from 1990 to 2009 (no invitation tournament in 2000).

Due to financial problems the Magistral was no longer played in 2010 and the following years, but minor Opens were going on.

Top players participating but <not winning> at Ciudad Pamplona:

Korchnoi (2., 1990), Radjabov (2., 2001), Karjakin (2., 2004, 7., 2003), Zsuzsa Polgar (3., 1990, 3. 1991), Shirov (3., 2006), Topalov (4., 1994), Caruana (4., 2008), Kramnik (5., 1992 then already as top seed), Ljubojevic (6., 1995), Pia Cramling (6., 1996), Bacrot (6., 1997), Nakamura (6., 2003), Judit Polgar (7., 1990), Timman (7., 1999), Leko (8., 1993 as IM).

Yudasin won twice in a row!

List of winners: http://www.jemchess.com/Oberena08/O... plus 19th and last edition in 2009 with a four-way-tie: Meier (best on tie-break), Granda Zuniga, Laznicka, and Kiril Georgiev.

perfidious: <Gottschalk: Totally Wrong and inexplicable rating....>

That figure of 2692 could well be his peak USCF rating, and if so, would hardly be the first occasion on which we have seen ratings other than one's FIDE used to denote a player's peak.

Yes I agree
I've been trying to alert Chessgames.com to the fact that the FIDE rating is the one that should take precedence or predominance. Even so, there is still room for other scores,
as long as the webmaster identifies the source.
For me there is no doubt, if Chessgames.com started writing Highest FIDE rating there would be no more confusion.
