 | | offramp: Imagine what it would be like to have Kortschnoi as a chess tutor!
Can you imagine the criticism!?
VK has never beaten Anand, but after every one of VK's losses he has told VA that he has no idea about chess. |
May-08-16
 | | HeMateMe: korchnoi was just too old by the time Anand was at the big boys table. Even in his 50s Korchnoi would have taken some games from Vishy. Kasparov made it look pretty easy at the WC match at the old WTC. |

 | | HeMateMe: This 1981 article in sports illustrated gives some info on the working relationship between Yaz and Korchnoi <http://www.si.com/vault/1981/12/21/...> |
Aug-11-16 | | Chessinfinite: Nice commentary by Gm Seirawan.
It would have been even sweeter if he did not pass judgement on innocent youngsters on disrespecting elders.. wow. Poor Chandra was being only respectfully playful..But Yasser had some sort of resentment of him i guess...
Good luck to Seirwan - please continue the great work on chess itself, it is always a pleasure |

Oct-17-16 | | posoo: dis man looks like my BASBAL coch. dat was a LONG TIME ago before da trubles. |
Jan-09-17 | | RookFile: It's a pretty impressive thing to have wins against the likes of Karpov, Kasparov, Topalov, Korchnoi, Short, Reshevsky, etc. on your resume. |
Mar-16-17 | | pazzed paun: Not sure which page to post on but
The Washington state champ has a cover article
On the cover of the stranger.com
With even a link to redhotpawn.com
Good interview with some great chess anecdotes! |
Mar-24-17 | | lost in space: Happy Birthday, champ. |
Mar-24-17 | | Ironmanth: Happy birthday, Grandmaster! You have provided all of us unmatched enjoyment with your marvelous commentary, and we are blessed to share your unalloyed joy of our beloved game. Be well Yasser! |
Mar-24-17 | | Pantagruel: Yasser, he's the man. |
Mar-24-17 | | TheFocus: This is a very poor bio for such s great player!! Love your books!!
And your games.
Happy birthday, Yasser!! |
Mar-24-17
 | | saffuna: Don't forget "Inside Chess." |
Mar-24-17 | | TheFocus: I have a full run of "Inside Chess." |
Mar-24-17
 | | saffuna: So do I, but spread into every nook and cranny of the house. My only connection to the world of chess back in the 90s. |
Mar-24-17
 | | hansj: I would like to echoe Ironmanth's fine words. Happy Birthday Yasser! and many good returns. |
Mar-24-17 | | Howard: Well, what about a certain GM who was world champion from 1957-58? As Yasser himself has pointed out, the two of them shared the same birthday. |
Mar-24-17 | | gars: Happy Birthday, Grandmaster Seirawan! I wish you the best. |
May-23-17
 | | saffuna: A promising junior: http://cdn.simplesite.com/i/46/c1/2... |
May-24-17 | | Boomie: <saffuna: A promising junior...> Nice picture. That's the Yaz I kept in lunch money at 5 minute back in the day. Within about 4 years, Yaz was one of the best 5 minute players in the US. Aside from a boatload of talent, he worked harder on the game than anybody else. |
May-24-17
 | | perfidious: Dang, that photo even antedates the tough player I first saw at the old Bond Court Hotel in Cleveland in May 1977. |
May-01-19 | | Helios727: Has anyone else noticed that in Seirawan Chess an Elephant generally defeats a Rook or Bishop Pawn on the 7th rank (even if defended by its king), while a Queen generally only draws? |
May-01-19
 | | Joshka: The only American GM to visit with Bobby during his 92 Match with Boris. Bobby was very much appreciative. Happy belated Birthday and have many more!! PS You were the first GM I ever had the chance to meet and greet back in 1987 in Nevada at the National Open. You and Boris Gulko tied for first I believe and you guys were playing a tie breaker!? Anyway you were so gracious and made my first impressions on GM's very positive!! |
May-01-19
 | | Joshka: Yasser also has a resume any chess player would be able to boast about!! Scalps from Spassky, Karpov and Kasparov!! You can also throw in Korchnoi! In fact Korchnoi thought so much of Yasser he hired him to be his second in a Championship Match against Karpov. Any other American GM's who can claim these same scalps!?? |
May-01-19
 | | Joshka: He also must have played some blitz games with Bobby as well. Has anyone ever asked him if he was able to beat Bobby a game or two? If he did that would be 4 World Chess Champions plus Korchnoi , who most agree was the strongest NON World Champ!! Let's give Yasser some props!! |
