Jun-27-09 | | acirce: Happy birthday!
<Ziggurat> Did he even play more than once? |
Jun-27-09 | | Jim Bartle: I hear his birthday party had two adjournments. |
Jul-25-09 | | Juergen Kaufeld: Hi there,
the time has come!
As late as two weeks ago a book with games of Ulf Andersson has been published. Yet it's only available in German and it's title is Kaufeld/Kern: "Schachstrategie der Weltklasse, 15 Trainingslektionen zu den Partien von Ulf Andersson", published by chessgate.
80 games of Ulf to illustrate well-known middle- and endgameissues!
We hope it will be released in English some day.. |
Jul-25-09 | | myschkin: . . .
You might give us some insight behind the secret life of a chess author here >> J Kaufeld |
Jul-25-09 | | Granny O Doul: Interesting that he likes to play both correspondence and online one-minute chess. Another interesting coincidence is that the famous one-minute opening 1.d4 g6 2.Bh6 Bg7 3.Bxg7 also occurs occasionally in correspondence, where Black answers 1.d4 with "...g6 and if any, 2... Bg7". |
Aug-09-09 | | waustad: I see he is playing at Zurich. I wonder if he'll finish the tourney. |
Aug-23-09 | | kurtrichards: ... the all-time drawing master...

Aug-23-09
 | | gezafan: It's interesting that a drawmaster prefers the sicilian and the french as his main responses to e4. And look how little he plays 1...e5! |
Aug-23-09 | | parisattack: <kurtrichards: ... the all-time drawing master...> Yes, and what a shame. He certainly had a unique approach to the game. Just not motivated...issues and such. |
Oct-12-09 | | talisman: Florida beats LSU and now I'm seeing Nick Saban everywhere i go! |
Nov-03-09
 | | Check It Out: GM Andersson is playing in a tournament right now called Magistral d'Escacs Ciutat. Looks like a draw between him and Pavel Tregubov |
Nov-12-09 | | shalgo: Only 3.5/9 for Andersson in the Barcelona tournament. He started well, with 3/5, but could only get one draw and three losses out of his last four games. At least he didn't drop out! |
Dec-11-09 | | The Rocket: I am usually bored with looking at ulfs games, he does have great endgame skills, but usually the games are drawn very quickly and peacefuly. |
Apr-22-10
 | | GrahamClayton: I read in one of Tim Harding's books that Ulf would take his chess set down to his local cafe and analyse some of his CC games. A lot more sociable and human than using Fritz or Rybka! |
Apr-22-10
 | | Richard Taylor: I played a game with Anderson once. On ICC 5 0 or 8 0 or something. He won but it was a fairly longish game...but of course I was always going to lose. He was one of the strongest players in the 80s. Somewhat like Kramnik or maybe Petrosian in style...or Karpov perhaps. |
Jun-09-10 | | Wyatt Gwyon: I wish to God there was a good book of this guy's games. |
Jun-09-10 | | whiteshark: <Wyatt Gwyon: I wish to God there was a <good book> of this guy's games.> http://www.newinchess.com/Schachstr...
The table of contents looks deeply interesting. At least a book... |
Jun-09-10 | | Wyatt Gwyon: <whiteshark> I wish I could read that. |
Aug-10-10 | | Atking: I notice that Ulf Anderson finished 19th of the very strong open of Mainz one point of big name like Aronian. A result "A la Kortchnoi" Pretty good. I like this player and hope we will see him again in another big tournament. |
Oct-21-10 | | Festy: I wonder why there isn't much kibtiz on arguably one of the most difficult chess player to beat? Ulf is one of my very few favorite chess players. He was as solid as rock as a chess player. |
Oct-21-10 | | parisattack: <Festy: I wonder why there isn't much kibtiz on arguably one of the most difficult chess player to beat? > Like Miles (though with a different perspective) I thought Andersson had a little different perspective on chess. A book on his games, style in English would be great to see someday! |
Oct-22-10 | | Festy: <parisattack: A book on his games, style in English would be great to see someday!> Mr. Ray Keene, can you please do it ? :-) |
Oct-29-10 | | DieHard: I love Ulf's games. I was browing through an old Chess Life from the early 80s, saw a beautiful win against John Nunn. It was like Aikido with chess pieces. |
Oct-31-10 | | Juergen Kaufeld: Be patient, our book "Schachstrategie der Weltklasse" which exclusively covers some of Ulf`s best games, will come out in English next year! :-) |
