May-20-15  Octavia: rd 2: Keti was lucky today! Zhorzholiani, Meri, her opponent messed up a won position & allowed a draw!
May-21-15  Octavia: rd3: Selina her very good friend predictably agreed a fairly short draw with Keti. So they've got a nice day coming!

Good luck for the remainder !

May-26-15  Octavia: rd 7 - 50%
I haven't been able to follow because I was playing 2 games myself - I also got 50% but my performance was 400 pts higher than my grade! I'd been playing up, as you can tell. Keti is playing down :(
May-30-15  Octavia: Keti got 6/11 in the Eurowomen's competition
Jun-01-15  Octavia: Keti played slow & dead slow in the Euro. In only 1 game was she faster than her opponent.

but now she's playing in the rapid/allegro in Kutaisi, Georgia(15 mins each) & she played blitzschnell! to win 3 games in a row: on board 8,7 & 4. Her last game of today was on bd 1 against Stefanova. The first 5 moves took her 5 Mins & she predictably lost.

I enjoyed watching her games & even predicted lots of moves! Tomorrow another 4 games & 3 on the last day.

g l, Keti!

Jun-02-15  Octavia: today Keti lost on bd 3, won on 7 & = 2 on bd 6
Jun-03-15  Octavia: Alexandra Kosteniuk won the allegro!

Keti did badly today: lost on bd 6 & 10, = on bd 8. So she got only 5.5/11

Jan-24-16  Octavia: A few years ago Keti contemplated retiring from chess. But her man, Jonathan kept on playing & this weekend she's preparing to play in Gibraltar once again!

A lot of GMs have a steep career to get to the top & very often they then stop playing since they imagine they can't keep performing at the top level - brainwashing tells us that! However, I think it's great when they keep playing because they really enjoy it. Then winning is still the best but not the only reason to play - does that make sense?

One day some 'old' GM is going to show you that s/he can teach the young & when that happens more often then the agist rants will disappear & chess will improve tremendously. Then everyone will be invited to play, not just kids.

Jan-27-16  waustad: Her opponent at Gibraltar tomorrow is Pia Cramling. There are 9 games between them in this database, but I would expect that they have played more than that. From the games we have here, Cramling is a tough opponent for her.
Jan-29-16  Octavia: I don't think Keti ever won against Pia, so her win was extra special!

OhioChessFan: Quite a player. I admit I wasn't familiar with her until stumbling on this page. She has a win with Black over Naka to her credit!

Nakamura vs K Arakhamia-Grant, 2007

Apr-03-16  Octavia: Keti features in this book amongst others: RAMPANT CHESS by Chandler & Ruxton. Some funny bonmots in there.
Apr-14-16  Octavia: would someone be able to upload 3 games of Ketevan Arakhamia? She was white against Portisch in women-veterans, Copenhagen 1997 1-0

black against Stuart Conquest in British Championship, Edinburgh 2003 0-1

and white against Rauf Mamedov in International Open, Calvia 2007 1-0

You'll find all 3 of those interesting games online somewhere. Thanks

Keti played in her home town Edinburgh. She was 2nd in the pecking order & 2nd= at the end with a nice performance! Congratulations!

Jun-01-16  posoo: DIS LADY has a GREAT NAME
Jul-19-16  Octavia: Keti is Scottish champion once again! Congratulations! She played some great games!

Happy birthday!

Sep-24-16  Octavia: Olympiad 2016: won 6! drew 2 & lost 2. I'm sure she didn't need to lose the last game but for being exhausted AND having to play team captain as well.

I noticed that some of her friends took notice & copied her by playing in the women's event when they could have played in the open! It seems a retrograde step. But who am I to judge?

Oct-06-16  Octavia: She's playing in the Isle of Man in Douglas. The 1st 38 bds are online & since she's usully in one of those, we can watch her games. There are 68 bds & its a very strong competition with ~ 60 GMs.
Oct-13-16  diagonal: great player, bio, chess success, and pictures: http://memim.com/ketevan-arakhamia-...
Nov-29-16  Octavia: Keti is playing again for Baden Baden in the women's Bundesliga & has 2/2 ! g l in the games to come!
Jan-27-17  Octavia: keti is playing again in Gibraltar - I watched her win in the 3rd rd. So far she could be in a women's tournament - her 3 opponents were all female!
May-11-17  Octavia: Keti played in the Eurowomen & as in Gibraltar, she did well in the first 1/2 & not so well in the last games. I wonder if she looses interest 1/2 way through? It can't be exhaustion since they play one game a day.

The Scottish championship will be very interesting this year in Dundee: Apart from the usual sections there is a 10 games all play all & Keti + Pia Cramling are the 2 women in it! g l to both, especially to Keti!

She has won the Scottish championship thrice!!!

Jul-19-17  waustad: One more year until she's eligible to play in some seniors tournaments. She's now playing in Dundee with Pia Cramling, who, to my knowledge, has only played in one senior tournament, about a week after she turned 50.
Aug-03-17  Octavia: Keti performed very well in the invitational Dundee tournament: She started out as 2nd last grading wise & finished 2nd= !

Unfortunately I couldn't see Pia's performance since the Scottish webside it pretty lousy. I do know that Pia 0-1 Keti.

Keti is now playing in the English championship. After 6 games she's only lost to Luke McShane.

Aug-10-17  waustad: <Octavia> The chess-results.com server is being transferred to another machine at the moment, but in a few days, results from that tournament should all be available.
Sep-16-17  Octavia: thanks <Waustad>! Are you watching the World Cup? I can watch it via utube on my tv. When there is a break in the commentary you can often see panoramic views of Georgia & what views! It's amazing! Next year the Olympiad will happen there, too.

May be Scottish chess will ask me to play for being the oldest female player in the country. But I'm afraid the Scots are not known for their sense of humour.
