Dec-11-24 | | vonKrolock: <FSR: 33.Qb6! wins, e.g. 33...Qd7 34.Ne8! Leko and Naroditsky were wrong. Rf8 was losing, and Rbe7 was forced.> consider this |
|
Dec-11-24 | | Dezaxa: After 33. Qb6 Qd7 34. Ne8 Rc6 Black is better than fine, Black is winning easily. Gukesh did not miss anything. |
|
Dec-11-24
 | | FSR: My apologies. I have been spouting nonsense. Somehow I had 30.Rfe1 on the board rather than 30.Rde1, as actually played. So ignore my line, <halito27> (actually Stockfish's line, but in a position that never occurred, with the other rook on e1). |

Dec-11-24
 | | Sally Simpson: Re5 Re7 perpetual. Tempting. Both players will be tired. |
|
Dec-11-24 | | whiteshark: 42... Bxe4 or 42...Qh4 to come next. |

Dec-11-24
 | | perfidious: <FSR: My apologies. I have been spouting nonsense....> We are well used to it elsewhere. (laughs) |
|
Dec-11-24
 | | halito27: Interesting. I like to watch these games without engines or commentary so I certainly miss lines all the time. My sense of this game all along has been that white is better but if I was black, I could hold it so of course, a player of Ding’s caliber should hold it more easily. It’s just his time management that gives cause for concern. |
|
Dec-11-24
 | | perfidious: Ding is now well ahead on the clock? Impossible. |
|
Dec-11-24 | | siamesedream: Repetition in the air. |
|
Dec-11-24
 | | halito27: No problem, <FSR>. But now I can stop looking at the position and wondering what I’m missing! 😂 |
|
Dec-11-24 | | whiteshark: 44... c3 to safe harbour the draw |
|
Dec-11-24 | | whiteshark: he really did it |

Dec-11-24
 | | Sally Simpson: GUkesh has knocked back the pertual. Risky but if he wants be the champion then risks have to be taken. |

Dec-11-24 | | vonKrolock: still a draw even if white wins a pawn ... lets see |

 | | offramp: From 49...Qc6 Stockfish gives this line.

 | | perfidious: The key idea for Black now is ....h7-h5, known since Duras-Capablanca. He can hold if White gets h4-h5 in, but that is tougher. |

Dec-11-24
 | | offramp: I'm really pleased that they carry on. |

 | | Teyss: "You made me sweat in game 9 with a slightly superior R+3Ps vs R+3Ps endgame? My turn to make you sweat with R+3Ps vs R+2Ps." |

Dec-11-24
 | | offramp: I'm pretty certain that this will end as K v K. |

Dec-11-24
 | | OhioChessFan: Thanks for the game cg c |
|
Dec-11-24 | | Zimmermannn: After 17. Qf3 when Gukesh threw his chances, I foretold a draw. Eccola. |
|
Dec-11-24
 | | offramp: 64. h5 looks better than 64. f5. But the game was drawn anyway at that point. |
|
Dec-11-24
 | | keypusher: A really fascinating game. They definitely gave the fans their money's worth. |
|
Dec-11-24
 | | FSR: I think the main winning chance missed was after 30...Qf7? (30...Qxe1 was correct). Then instead of 31.Ne4?, trading rooks first and then playing 32.Ne4 would have given Gukesh a huge advantage. |
