The 13th European Club Cup for Women was a 7-round Swiss team tournament held at the Athos Palace Hotel in Kallithea, Halkidiki peninsula, Greece, 17-23 October 2008, with the participation of 18 clubs from 13 countries, including defending champions Cercle d'Echecs de Monte Carlo, which mustered Koneru, Cramling, Xie Jun, Dzagnidze, Socko and Skripchenko. Of the 82 players, 7 were GMs and 26 IMs. Each match was played over four boards, with two points for a team win and one point for a draw. Time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves then 30 more minutes till the end of the game, with 30 seconds added per move from move 1. First prize: 2,500 euros. Central organizers: Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou and Werner Stubenvoll. Chief arbiter: Dirk de Ridder. Cercle d'Echecs de Monte Carlo won again with 12/14, ahead of Spartak Vidnoe (Yifan Hou, Stefanova, Zhao Xue, Tatiana and Nadezhda Kosintseva, Ovod), T-com Podgorica (Anna Muzychuk, Maric, Gaponenko, Kovalevskaya) and Economist SGSEU Saratov, all three with 10/14.
