Sep-04-09 | | DiscoJew: Where the hell is this drunken Tkachiev game? I know all to well what he was going through and played many games totally bombed on booze and weed. Sometime I could do it, sometimes I passed out. The games are often humorous to review though!
We gotta find this game CHESSGAMES!
Anyone else have drunk games they care to show? We could probably include many of hundreds of Tal's games :) |

Sep-05-09 | | WinKing: <apple pi: Does anyone have computer analysis after white's 37th in this game: Le Quang Liem vs Mamedyarov, 2009?> Position after white's 37th Nxb7.

come on, we're all humans...besides, it makes chess more popular ;) on a more serious note: he should have abstained to come to the playing hall in that state - or at least his second (if he has one) should have told him so. |

Sep-05-09 | | Octavia: <The "live" games on Monroi aren't very live either> They seem to put their own moves in sometimes, but always correct them quickly. I'm very pleased with the Alekhineclub. |

 | | Open Defence: <Octavia> are you in Kolkata ? if so welcome to my country |
Sep-06-09 | | PhilFeeley: <DiscoJew> Try a few of Alekhine's games, especially one of his matches against Euwe. |

 | | Check It Out: There seemed to be a lot of play left in the Rd 6 Chanda-Short game. Was it really a simple draw? |
Sep-09-09 | | swordfish: Who won this tournament? |

Sep-09-09
 | | JointheArmy: <There seemed to be a lot of play left in the Rd 6 Chanda-Short game. Was it really a simple draw?> How is that different than any other Super GM game? GMs like Leko and Kramnik have been doing this for years. Lots of play on the board, but they'd rather draw games then draw blood. |
Sep-09-09 | | Boomie: <There seemed to be a lot of play left in the Rd 6 Chanda-Short game. Was it really a simple draw?> If you play out the final position, you will see that white has all the winning chances. Black will have to play very well to hold. I think Chanda was wrong to accept the draw offer. |

Sep-09-09 | | nhat8121: where can I find the current standing of this tourney? |

Sep-09-09 | | Thuellin: It's looking really good for Le Quang Liem going into the last round. He probably only needs a draw to win the tournament and he has white against a significantly lower-rated opponent. The only player half a point behind him has the black pieces against top-seeded Mamedyarov. |

Sep-10-09 | | Thuellin: Congratulations to GM Le Quang Liem for winning unshared first with 8/10! He took it easy today against IM Satyapragyan Swayangsu (who I think is getting a GM norm) with a 21-move draw. GM Mamedyarov ground down GM Laznicka to take second on tie-break. |
Sep-10-09 | | PhilFeeley: <siamesedream: Nice Short's win> Now why couldn't he have done that against those much lower rated opponents who drew with him? |
Sep-10-09 | | luzhin: Because they didn't play as badly as Mchedlishvili. |
Sep-10-09 | | jon01: Because he wasn't angry enough. |
Sep-10-09 | | jahhaj: <Nice Short's win...> If this is Nice Short I wouldn't like to be playing Nasty Short. |

Sep-13-09 | | jamesmaskell: Advice for anyone playing Short, dont play the C-K. Hes blown two to pieces in one tournament. Its a bit passive an opening to play against Short. Kind of asking for a happy slapping attack really... |
Sep-14-09 | | shintaro go: Very prestigious win in young Le Quang Liem's career. Truly amazing. |
Sep-19-09
 | | offramp: The home page lists this as, "4th Kolkata Open, Calcutta, India." |
Sep-19-09 | | timhortons: i hope lee quang liem could play in corus B, OR AT LEAST COULD GET AN INVITATION DUE TO HIS FINE PERFORMANCE AT CALCUTTA. |
