Nov-09-20  technical draw: Thanks <Bugs>. The war is on! I'm maximizing my bets and fortifying my Siegfried line. Operation Barbarossa will become a schoolyard fight compared to when I unleash my armies. Beware of the enemies at the gate!

Penguincw: Hi. I just noticed I was mentioned.

Unfortunately I do not have any information that may be of help. <Susan Freeman> is likely an admin on this site, so she may be able to assist.

As you know, ending the leg, checking the files, Pay Day, etc. are functions that user run bookies do not have.

Sargon: <jingohanson: I wish I knew how to end the leg, how to have a payday, how to increase limits. Annie K. left Chessgames. She recommended I contact Sargon for assistance. [...] I don't know what to do. [...]>

Greetings, <jingohanson>. First of all, please accept my apology for not responding sooner to you.

Unfortunately, the fact is that the process for the quarterly ChessBookie leg changeover is somewhat manual, inasmuch as it was never automated to the point that anyone besides a super-admin such as Daniel or myself could accomplish it.

So what I'm going to do is proceed with the changeover for the new ChessBookie quarterly leg, and at the same time I'll make an outline of the steps I take when doing so.

<Additionally (and most importantly) I'll automate the "chessbookie quarterly leg changeover" process> so as to "fill in the gaps", and—moving forward—this will provide the ability for an administrator to perform the procedure.

I don't think we're near the end of the leg yet. It's important to announce in advance when the leg will end, because that affects how aggressively people will bet.

Right now what we need is the 1000 cb "salary."

Nov-13-20  technical draw: <beatgiant> Hey! Let's end it today. And whoever is in first place wins, hehehe.
Nov-14-20  technical draw: I think I'm hedging my bets too much in this round. Even winning I might lose.

My suggestion: go onto various pages here and advertise "Last chance to bet in the fall leg before payday!" and then, after recruiting a few more players, nag <Sargon> again about the payday.

Going forward, I think <Sargon> really needs to authorize the chessbookie to operate the payday function.

beatgiant: By the way, can anyone tell me roughly when is the leg projected to end? This is important for us to plan our strategies.
Nov-22-20  rough sleeper: <beatgiant> i believe Dec. 13th is a good guess.

Chessgames Bookie: Yes, Dec. 13 is logical. Unfortunately, Chess.com hasn't posted the dates for last 3 quarterfinals. Nakamura-Fedoreev has been set for Dec. 3, but no start time. Meanwhile I'll set up some bets for this Skilling event.

martin moller: Hi Chess Bookie - I know I said this before, but I think it would be a fun idea to also have some sort of price for ending dead last in the leags. itLs not as easy as one might think (you actually have to win some to get that extra minus). Best of luck to all participants. Also <morfishine> whom I finally surpassed in the wintherleg.

Chessgames Bookie: Thanks to all the players. Congratulations to the winners. I'm not sure what's going to happen from here, but it's been fun, hasn't it?

Gens una sumus!

Dec-12-20  WinKing: Thanks for all your hard work <jingohanson>. Your doing a great job handling the Bookie duties. If this is the end, well done!

moronovich: A lot of kudos to the winner <rough sleeper>! And to the other qualifiers as well ! Special award to <jingohanson> for running the bookiegame and comming in third.
Dec-12-20  rough sleeper: I really hope that this isn't the end, this game is too much fun!! Maybe everyone starting every leg with 5,000 chessbucks will entice more chessgame members to play. Thank you <moronovich> and <beatgiant> for the congratulations, but it really was <scout118> who had a near insurmountable lead. I guess for Magnus when it rains it pours.

Happy Holidays to everyone here.

And one word to <martin moller> if it were up to me i would give you a t-shirt that says 'i finished dead last in the chessgames chessbookie game'

Dec-12-20  rough sleeper: A special shoutout and thank you to our bookie <jingohanson> who did an A+ job for two legs in a row. Thank you. And i'll say it again i hope we will continue on with this game.
Dec-12-20  mike1: I second all the above!
Hope to see you all healthy and well in
another leg in 2021, which should not be
as dramatic as this year!

martin moller: As from The 2020 Fall leg Chess Bookiegame I will make a Hall of fame for the worst chess bookie gamer ( in my forum) My aim is to inspire more chess gamers to participate in the bookiegame so it is not only the high rollers who get some credit :-) The Hall of fame will be for every contender with minus. Feel free to drop by in my forum with comments.
