Responsorial Psalm
Ps 84:3, 4, 5-6a and 8a, 11
R. (2) How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!
My soul yearns and pines
for the courts of the LORD.
My heart and my flesh
cry out for the living God.
R. How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!
Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow a nest
in which she puts her young—
Your altars, O LORD of hosts,
my king and my God!
R. How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!
Blessed they who dwell in your house!
continually they praise you.
Blessed the men whose strength you are!
They go from strength to strength.
R. How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!
I had rather one day in your courts
than a thousand elsewhere;
I had rather lie at the threshold of the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
R. How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God! Alleluia
Jas 1:21bc
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Humbly welcome the word that has been planted in you
and is able to save your souls.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
Mt 13:24-30
Jesus proposed a parable to the crowds.
"The Kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man
who sowed good seed in his field.
While everyone was asleep his enemy came
and sowed weeds all through the wheat, and then went off.
When the crop grew and bore fruit, the weeds appeared as well.
The slaves of the householder came to him and said,
'Master, did you not sow good seed in your field?
Where have the weeds come from?'
He answered, 'An enemy has done this.'
His slaves said to him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?'
He replied, 'No, if you pull up the weeds
you might uproot the wheat along with them.
Let them grow together until harvest;
then at harvest time I will say to the harvesters,
"First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning;
but gather the wheat into my barn."'" |

<Vladimir Putin believes the Russian military’s scaled-down attrition strategy in Ukraine will grind down Ukrainian forces and break the will of the U.S.-led alliance — but he is wrong, CIA Director William Burns said Wednesday at the Aspen Security Forum.“Putin’s view of Americans is that we always suffer from attention deficit disorder, and we’ll get distracted by something else,” Burns said during a live-streamed interview with Andrea Mitchell of NBC News. “My own strong view is that Putin was wrong in his assumptions about breaking the alliance and breaking Ukrainian will before the war began, and I think he is just as wrong now.” After a disastrous start to the war based on a series of flawed assumptions, Russia has settled into its traditional method of war in Ukraine’s eastern region, Burns said — directing massive artillery and air strikes against cities, without regard to civilian casualties. > https://www.cnbc.com/2022/07/21/put... Russia 'about to run out of steam' offering Ukraine chance to strike back, head of UK intelligence says
Russia’s military is likely to start an operational pause of some kind in Ukraine in the coming weeks, giving Kyiv a key opportunity to strike back, Britain’s spy chief said on Thursday, addressing the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado.“I think they’re about to run out of steam. I think our assessment is that the Russians will increasingly find it difficult to supply manpower material over the next few weeks,” said Richard Moore, chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) known as MI6. “They will have to pause in some way, and that will give the Ukrainians opportunities to strike back.” Updated at 12.48 EDT

Jul-23-22 | | George Wallace: A few analysts have said that they think Russia will not stop at the Dnipro River in Ukraine, but will likely push beyond that and take the whole country. I find that a little surprising. It seems to me that Russia could take up to the Dnipro and call it a day, definitely able to sell it as a victory back to the Russian people. The original statement by Russia at the start of the war said that the goal was to secure the protection of the Russian-speaking population in the east, which had been at war with Ukraine for 8 years, and to "de-Nazify" the country. The "de-Nazification" occurred when the Russians took Mariupol and occupying the east up to the Dnipro would secure the Russian-speaking area, so what's the point in taking the whole country? 80% of Ukraine's industry is in the east and so are much of their resources, so as far as smash and grab goes, Russia should be satisfied with just taking the east. Isn't the law of diminishing returns playing at least somewhat of a factor here? The war can be described as Russia slowly feeding Ukraine into the woodchipper. There was a guy in town about 15 years ago who made the local news one day by getting killed on the job, as he was sucked through a woodchipper. He was working at a local tree company and, according to what I remember, he got on top of the woodchipper while it was running because it got stuck, kicked a few logs, jumped on the wood to loosen it or something, and got sucked through the chipper and spit out into the buck in what was described as a mist. I think he was about 24 years old. Right now, Ukraine is being fed into the woodchipper as Putin <de-Homos> the country, making it an acceptable neighbor of Russia. |

 | | al wazir: With a few exceptions such as incitement to commit a crime, where the courts have specifically ruled that words can cause serious harm, the First Amendment allows people to say anything, even if it's false. As things stand now, lying is not against the law. Should it be?
The Framers were not guileless innocents. They knew that people sometimes lie and that politicians often do. They were familiar with occasions when false rumors had spread widely, resulting in mob violence and property damage. But they didn't know about 21st-century mass communications. They didn't know about the Internet. Trump's maggots apparently believe anything he says. They appear to believe that the 2020 election really was stolen. I say "appear" and "apparently" because most of them may know better. They may just be using his lies as an excuse to try to overturn the result of the election. After all, when he recommended drinking bleach as a prophylactic measure against covid, only a few people actually did it. But suppose his chumps had taken him at his word and that thousands had died from Chlorox poisoning. Would the First Amendment have protected that speech? After all, he didn't incite anyone to commit a crime. He didn't mean to harm anyone. Maybe he really thought it would work. It was just his opinion. |

Jul-23-22 | | George Wallace: The <Elite Posters> will note what Putin has been saying about America and the West, since the acceleration of all the madness and evil. <Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the West, including the United States, for eschewing Christian values and opting instead for a “path to degradation.”> What is degradation?
<“Many Euro-Atlantic countries have moved away from their roots, including Christian values… Policies are being pursued that place on the same level a multi-child family and a same-sex partnership, a faith in God and a belief in Satan.” Russia has adopted new laws that ban homosexual propaganda and criminalizes the insulting of religious sensibilities. > My how times have changed! Just 40ish years ago... <It was not that long ago that the United States was accusing Russia for being a “godless nation.” On March 8, 1983, Ronald Reagan said this about Russia to an audience of evangelicals: Yes, let us pray for the salvation of all of those who live in that totalitarian darkness–pray they will discover the joy of knowing God. But until they do, let us be aware that while they preach the supremacy of the state, declare its omnipotence over individual man, and predict its eventual domination of all peoples on the Earth, they are the focus of evil in the modern world.
>
Now Russia is the Christian nation and America is the godless State! https://www.breitbart.com/national-... In this next article, they try to prove that Putin <did not> say that the West was controlled by Satanic pedophiles - but their twisted interpretation of what he said isn't much different. Basically, some media groups put out the headlines "Putin says west controlled by satanic pedos" as a summary of what he said in a speech, and the <fact checkers> said, "He didn't say those exact words." But if you read this article from Politifact, you'll see that the headline is not so misleading as they would have you believe. <No, Putin didn’t say the West is controlled by Satanic pedophiles> The article goes on to say that the libs have looked everywhere, turned over every rock, and couldn't find these words in this order. So listed as FALSE. heh. But here are the pieces to the puzzle from the FACT CHECKER article itself: <"They are denying moral principles and all traditional identities: national, cultural, religious and even sexual. They are implementing policies that equate large families with same-sex partnerships, belief in God with the belief in Satan." > <Putin also said during this speech that "the excesses of political correctness have reached the point where people are seriously talking about registering political parties whose aim is to promote pedophilia." > https://www.politifact.com/factchec... |
