 | | WannaBe: <Stevens> I played around, and did not see anything close to what you're asking. The closest thing I can see is this: F12 (open database) view-> change it to move only, and you see lines like: NN vs. Morphy 1. d3 d5 2. e3..... etc.
That's as close as I can find to an actual 'named' opening. |
May-24-06 | | Stevens: <wannabe> yeah, that's all i've been able to come up with too. it's a bizarre oversight isn't it? thanks for looking though, much appreciated! |

Jul-06-06 | | vspatel: I need some helpful advice. I am thinking about buying fritz. Should I buy Deep Fritz 8 or Fritz 9? Which one is better? |
Jul-06-06
 | | WannaBe: <vspatel> I'm going to guess that you know the differences between a 'deep' fritz and a non-deep version right? And by better, you mean which engine is stronger? |
Jul-06-06 | | vspatel: I know that Deep Fritz is a multiprocessor version and my computer supports multiprocessors. But is Deep Fritz 8 better than Fritz 9 in terms of functions, analysis, and training? |
Jul-09-06 | | chessmoron: <Fritz 9 users (the new one)> Is Toga 1.1 suppose to beat Fritz 9 4 straight time? What are the steps to make the damn thing to work? Need help! |
Jul-23-06 | | iWaNnAbAgM: is there someone who would like to challenge my chessmaster computer? |

 | | James Demery: Does anyone know the approximate rating of the commercial version of Fritz? I don`t think the version I have is the one that drew Kasparov and Kramnik. |
Aug-10-06
 | | WannaBe: <James Demery> go to Rybka's page, and look for the post made by BishopBerkeley, dated July 24th 2006. In the post, there are rating, and links to official page. |

 | | James Demery: Thanks WannaBe. Very interesting article , but I couldn`t find Fritz on the list. I was surprised Chessmaster was so high. |
Aug-11-06 | | NOKRO: Is Fritz bald? |
Aug-11-06 | | hitman84: <NOKRO: Is Fritz bald?>No, but your chessboard is gonna go bald when you play against it. |
Aug-14-06 | | NOKRO: <hitman84: <NOKRO: Is Fritz bald?>No, but your chessboard is gonna go bald when you play against it.> That's true. lol. |

Sep-13-06 | | GeauxCool: <VSPatel>I just bought this program about a week ago. Fritz 9. I think it's ok. I can't answer about Fritz 8. But maybe my experience will help you. What I found is that Fritz 9 responds as a player. It has an opening repertoire that it uses against mine, based on winning moves of the games that we've played against each other that are stored in the database. It's good because it helps me come up with better moves. It's bad because it sticks to the same opening responses. I still have a questions about it. For example: Has anyone here figured out how to force Fritz to play more diverse opening moves in rated play? Because I'd like to learn the opening better, which is the weakest part of my game. (Two of the Fritz games were posted in my profile.) And I can't seem to do this unless Fritz 9 responds with a greater diversity of openings. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, and good luck to you <vspatel> on choosing a good chess program! |

Oct-04-06 | | refutor: Frederic Friedel said about the accusation of Danailov when asked: "Actually we are disappointed: Fritz 9 plays just 78% of Kramnik's moves? We have to reach 85% with Fritz 10!" |
Oct-04-06 | | cotdt: <GeauxCool>Good thing you didn't get Chessmaster then. For some odd reason, Chessmaster transposes all the games I play against it into the King's Indian Dfense. It's getting rather annoying playing against the KID all the time. |
Oct-04-06 | | lopium: Why Fritz aint accusated to help Kramnik, thats not the Kramnik fault. seriously. lol |
Oct-08-06 | | Dionyseus: From what I've heard, Deep Fritz 10 will be at least 100 elo stronger than Fritz 9. If this is the case, Kramnik will be in for a lot of hurting come November. Wouldn't it be great if Fritz busts the Petroff or the Berlin? |
Oct-08-06 | | cotdt: from what i'm hearing, Fritz 10 has more built-in knowledge so it will be slower than Fritz 9 and less "pure" since the more knowledge makes it harder to know when the engine can be trusted and when it cannot. besides, kramnik already has a copy of the Fritz 10 prototype and already knows what kind of moves the engine will make once it's out of opening book. i'm sure kramnik will win at least one game. i'll continue using fritz 9 for analysis, since even though it's no longer the strongest engine, it calculates fast and has the least amount of knowledge and does the least amount of pruning, so you know you can trust it for tactics and certain type of positions, while working out the strategical lines on your own. Engines like Rybka and Hiarcs are for "lazy" chess analysts, since you don't have to show them which lines to search for with all their built-in positional knowledge. it's still good to show them the best lines, though. |

Oct-14-06 | | Loisp: Fritz 9 takes 7' 20'' to see the classic 12.Bxh7 sac on my 2.8GHZ pc after 1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.e5 c5 5.a3 Bxc3+ 6.bxc3 Qc7 7.Nf3 Ne7 8.a4 b6 9.Bb5+ Bd7 10.Bd3 Nbc6 11.0-0 0-0 12.Bxh7+! (0.68) Depth: 15/44 00:07:20 326834kN Rybka takes even more time... but Shredder engines find it immediatelly! |
Oct-15-06 | | Albertan: Hi Loisp, thanks for posting your message. Junior 9 also finds 12.Bxh7+! immediately as does the freeware Crafty and Hiarcs 8(set to "Aggressive" playing style). |
Oct-15-06 | | Loisp: Toga II 1.2.1a also found 12.Bxh7 after 10:01 minutes .<Albertan> how do you set hiarcs to agressive style? |
Oct-19-06 | | Albertan: Hi Loisp to activate "aggressive" mode in Hiarcs, first click on the engine menu, then click on "change main engine" then click on "engine parameters" and go into the "playing style window" and change it to "aggressive" if it is not already set there. |
Oct-20-06 | | Oregon104: Why does Fritz use the same opening every time I play it? It really is stupid every time it plays the Sicilian and always opens with 1. d4. I mean, come on. At least Chessmaster uses different openings. Fritz needs to diversify. It gets real old real fast playing the same stupid opening every time. The only way the game is different is if I play different moves. |
Oct-20-06
 | | WannaBe: Best by test, guess that 1. d4 or 1...c5 is best. =) |
