 | | Richard Taylor: I read part of his book. It's good except the first part only has 3 or 4 problems (positional with tactics sometimes) based on the chapter. [I failed them all!] But otherwise it is very good, I had it from a local library, so had to return it. He wrote it partly as he was deficient, he felt, in some of the areas he was discussing. A good idea. |
|
Nov-09-16 | | TheFocus: Happy birthday, Daniel Naroditsky. |
|
Dec-30-16 | | parisattack: No games from 2016? Perhaps he folded the chess tent? When they are very young and their ratings are moving steadily up it is probably disconcerting when 'the wall' makes its appearance. I enjoyed his book, Mastering Positional Chess. Some excellent insights as well as entertaining. |

Apr-03-17 | | zanzibar: Any more recent photos of him available?
He's 21 years old now. |

<In 2 days, GM Daniel Naroditsky will play a bullet match against the AlphaZero (Computer) engine Leela! More info to come... > https://lichess.org/event/TNW7yDTY |

Dec-21-18
 | | offramp: Daniel will be playing 2 hours of Bullet chess against Leela.
Harsh!
Three years ago I saw this game, Rybka vs Nakamura, 2008. That was a 3-minute game, no increment, where Nakamura beat Rybka in 271 moves, by using pre-moves (whereby one plays one's next move while the opponent is thinking on his reply to your previous move. If Daniel can do that frequently and thereby reduce Leela's thinking time to as little as possible, he might do very well. Bullet games are 1min per game with no imcrement. They are normally of comically low-quality, but these games will be worth looking at. |
|
Dec-21-18
 | | offramp: I have now see the full schedule for the 2 hours and my hopes for a Daniel Naroditsky win have gone SOUTH immediately. This is the schedule:
<
Time controls:
Phase 1: 2 games at 10+1
Phase 2: 4 games at 3+1
Phase 3: 8 games at 1+0
Phase 4 (as time allows): Daniel can challenge Leela at any time control, faster or slower.> I expect that Daniel will be 6-0 down after phase 2 and may be downhearted. He will then lose phases 3 & 4. The Result will be 14-0 to Leela. |
|
Dec-22-18
 | | offramp: Daniel has lost the 1st game. Leela was playing without c+d pawns. 10 minute game. |
|
Dec-23-18
 | | offramp: I watched the full two hours. It was very enlightening, with Daniel and his friend Jordy keeping up a constant commentary in a soft undercurrent of sound. Leela began by giving 2 pawns (c+d) as both black and white. Later this became a knight. There were 18 games in all, which can be seen at https://lichess.org/@/DrDragonitsky.... (Watch out, there are two non-Leela games there atm.) 12 wins, one loss and 5 draws.
I thought this was Daniel's best game. Black is giving knight odds: [Event "Casual Standard game"]
