Dec-29-08 | | Karpova: From page 77 of "CHESS", January 1946:
<The difficulty of deciphering chess masters' game scores is proverbial among chess journalists. We think the worst offender beyond any doubt was Lilienthal who is (or was) almost illiterate. His game scores outdid the prescriptions of the most frabjous physician. They were a cross between the most rabid work of the best impressionist painters and the work accomplished by the average child of two when it first dips its dummy into an ink-pot.> Source: C.N. 5867

Feb-09-09 | | percyblakeney: <could b interesting to know ab. how many tournaments Lilienthal might say... < on this, I am the only alive player....>> That must be many, he could be the only player alive for the last 34 years from Budapest 1931 and Paris 1933. Lilienthal may also be the player with the most years since his highest Chessmetrics rating (75 years, in 1934). Smyslov's top rating was in 1956. |

Happy 98th birthday, Lilienthal!! |

Jan-05-10 | | laskereshevsky: <Sep-11-09 WhiteRook48: and beat Lasker, Capablanca, and Alekhine> In true, there are no evidences of the victory over Alekhine in a serious game. Would I like it very much cause ANDOR is one of my chess heroes, but till nowadays, unfortunatly, no one was able to find the scoreshit of that fantomatic game... |
