RUGEMA NGARAMBE
(born 1969) Rwanda

[what is this?]
The game K Meier vs A Niyibizi, 2014 at the match between Rwanda and Seychelles had an unusual ending for both teams (except that Rugema Ngarambe was not chosen to play during the Chess Olympiad (2014) final round).

Alexis Ruzigura might have been in contention for a Candidate master title as a result of the team standings in the round, but team captain Maxence Murara of Rwanda "chose to sacrifice two games as loses in a gesture of goodwill to Seychelles, a decision which did not go down well with his teammates (1)." Kevin Ganza (president of the chess federation of Rwanda) agreed with the decision of their team captain. Links to G Kabera vs P Meier, 2014 (1st board), (see above for 2nd board details), M Murara vs Ragul Pillay, 2014 (3rd board) and B Hoareau vs A Ruzigura, 2014 (4th board) were the games of the final round.
