May-28-15  SimonWebbsTiger: Sad new. Neil has passed away. The Essex chess blog wrote:

<We have this evening received the tragic news of the sudden death of Writtle and Essex star, FM Neil Carr, on Monday this week, having suffered a heart attack while on holiday in Jersey with his family. This is a devastating blow that will shock and sadden all who knew Neil.

ECA President and Writtle CC guiding light, Ivor Smith, has said: "I am absolutely devastated - such sad news and a dreadful shock. Neil, so talented, helpful and considerate will be sorely missed by all who knew him and a loss like this at such a young age is so difficult to comprehend."

We express our deepest condolences to Neil's family and to his colleagues and friends at Writtle Chess Club.>

perfidious: It seems only yesterday that I saw Carr's photo as part of a junior side from a 1978 number in the <BCM>. Aged ten, looked younger still.
Jun-05-15  wordfunph: rest in peace, master Neil Carr..
