The Essex chess blog wrote: <We have this evening received the tragic news of the sudden death of Writtle and Essex star, FM Neil Carr, on Monday this week, having suffered a heart attack while on holiday in Jersey with his family. This is a devastating blow that will shock and sadden all who knew Neil.ECA President and Writtle CC guiding light, Ivor Smith, has said: "I am absolutely devastated - such sad news and a dreadful shock. Neil, so talented, helpful and considerate will be sorely missed by all who knew him and a loss like this at such a young age is so difficult to comprehend."
