Honza Cervenka: Delay of development and Pawn grabbing were punished quite quickly in this game.
Dec-20-08  YoungEd: Thank you, <Honza Cervenka>, for this collection. I'm enjoying it. You're right about this game. A sparkling mate at the end!
Oct-01-11  Cemoblanca: 8...Qb6?! [8...e6!]

9...Qxb2? [9...e6! ;0) or 9...Nb4!? 10.Nc3 Nxc3 11.cxd3]

10...Nxd4? and black is already lost here. [It was better to correct the last mistake immediately and to retreat the lady from "The shooting line", e.g. 10...Qb6!? 11.Rab1 Qc7, but after that 12.Bf4! looks strong 12...Qd7!? to keep an eye on f5, etc.]

11.Qf4! and for this reason 10...Nxd4 was a big mistake!

11...Ne6?? and after this move follows the "Death Penalty". ;0) [11...Nc6 was not much better, because of 12.Qc7! Rb8 13.Bxa7!, etc.]

12.Qa4+! The 1st "match ball".

12...Nd7 Successfully defended! ;0)

16.Rxc7 The 2nd...

16...Rd8 17.Qxd7! The alarm bell rings, having a shower, getting dressed, blowing-dry the hair and then off to Mama for lunch! :D

May-12-12  andyatchess: Great example of how to lure the queen in to a useless position
Dec-22-15  yureesystem: Tarrasch is one my favorite player, his play is simply extraordinary.

Chessical: von Scheve takes a pawn too many with <10...Nd4?> and Tarrasch administers a "Gnadenschuß"

White to play and win.

Sally Simpson: Why use the German 'Gnadenschuß' how about using English and say 'coup de grâce'.

keypusher: What a funny way to get to a Caro-Kann exchange variation. Maybe Black could have survived with 11....Nc6 12.Rab1 Qe5?

perfidious: Another piece of English: one might say Scheve was horsie de combat at the finish. (laughs)

chancho: This game happens to be in Tarrasch's Dreihundert Schachpartien.
Jul-01-17  sudoplatov: "Bringing in the Scheve."
Nov-22-18  RKnight: <Sally Simpson> 'Coup de grâce' is not English either, it's French. I don't think there is a corresponding English expression, so we borrow the French one most often, and occasionally the German 'Gnadenschuß'
Mar-06-19  Cibator: Young shaver trounces an old(er) Scheve. (NB: pun only works if you give old Theo's surname the correct German pronunciation.)
Jul-05-20  BickeDag: This game appears to be a copy of Tarrasch vs Von Scheve, 1879

MissScarlett: I'm going out on a limb and claiming it's definitely a copy.
