Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-25-04  wall: 28.Nc5 seems to give up a pawn. Perhaps 28.Rf2 instead. 31.Rd8+ and trading off Rooks doesn't look good. Perhaps 31.Bd4 or 31.Bxa7. In this endgame, perhaps 41.a6 instead of 41.Bd5. Instead of 42.Be3, perhaps 42.b4. Can White draw after 43.Bxf7 Kxf7 44.Kf3 instead of 43.Bc6. Or instead of 44.b4, maybe 44.axb6 axb6 45.b4. Instead of 51.Ke2 can White play 51.Bd2 and hold out?
Aug-29-04  sneaky pete: Has anyone noticed before that after 39... Bf6? white can play 40.Bxb6 .. with a probable win (40... axb6? 41.a6 .. etc)? At least RJF didn't!
Aug-29-04  iron maiden: Pavey was the first master Fischer ever played, in a simultaneous exhibition when Bobby was seven. Unfortunately the record for that game seems to have been lost.
Mar-16-05  Runemaster: <sneaky pete> well spotted.
Mar-16-05  Shams: but are you sure it works? 41.a6 c5 42.a7 Bc6
Mar-16-05  Runemaster: <Shams> 41...c5, 42.Bd5! stops the black bishop getting on to the long diagonal.
Mar-16-05  Shams: I knew I shouldn`t have posted, having 20 seconds only before going to work.
Sep-15-05  Pawn Ambush: Believe it or not in his youth Fischer sometimes cried after losing games, one of those games is supposedly against Max Pavey.
