Dec-31-24  whiteshark: <Stonehenge/GrahamClayton> You are both right as both tournaments were held simultaneously at the same venue.

From the chronicle of the 40th anniversary of SV Südlohn 1956 e.V.:

From April 9 to 19, 1981, SV Südlohn hosted the <International Junior Tournament of the NRW Chess Federation> on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. <At the same time, <the association's junior individual championships>> were held in Südlohn, where <Birgit Küsters> won the girls' title.

These tournaments posed similar problems to the 1974 IDJM in terms of preparation and organization, but there was already a certain amount of experience. It was no longer quite as stressful for the organizing team.

The organization of this major tournament was also a success for the club. Lasting contacts were made with players who would soon be among the top players in German and European chesslife. The tournament winner Klaus Bischoff in particular went on to win the German championship several times.

<Erhard Voll>, the current president of the NRW Chess Federation, ran the tournament as the NRW match director at the time and often spoke of the ''ideal conditions'' in Südlohn.
