The grandmaster tournament at the Second International Festival of the Serbian Academy of Sciences was played in the hall of the Thermal Bath in Vrnjačka Banja.

Before the last round, Barczay ended up in the hospital due to perforation of a stomach ulcer, so he did not play the last round.
