This was the 5th official European Junior Championship. Nine rounds in 11 days, starting on Saturday 27 December. Rest days 1 & 5 January. Participants were the top 10 finishers of the European Junior Championship Preliminary (1975) tournament. Kochyev won on tiebreak (having better score in the Preliminary) ahead of Inkiov and Pablo Marin, all three with 6/9.

There was also a Final-B tournament (consisting of nos 11-20 from the Preliminary), won by Ovidiu-Doru Foisor, a Final-C, won by Harry Schussler, and a Final-D, won by Louis Roos.
