Mar-16-06  Keshishian: Does anyone know how they used to decide the tie break?
Mar-16-06  Xaurus: m-buch factor.
Mar-16-06  yalie: does anybody know about a blitz tournament at the end of the main tournament? apparently Anand played in it

tamar: <yalie> It is being discussed at Magnus Carlsen
Mar-16-06  PhilFeeley: Anyone see Fischer there?
Mar-17-06  Robin01: He is probably playing in a disguise and using an alias!;)
Mar-17-06  percyblakeney: Quite a good result by Christin Andersson (2170), finishing even with the 460 ELO points higher rated Timman (5/9).
Mar-17-06  NJT: Shakhriyar Mamedyarov is the best player of the tournament! I'm sure that he gonna win!
Mar-17-06  ahmadov: <PhilFeeley: Anyone see Fischer there?> I heard that Fischer was the honoured guest of the tournament.
Mar-17-06  ahmadov: <NJT: Shakhriyar Mamedyarov is the best player of the tournament! I'm sure that he gonna win!> Well, but he has not. I think he was just very confident which caused him to lose to a very lower rated player in round 2.
Mar-18-06  PhilFeeley: Any ideas why the games are not available from the tournament website for download? And what about the blitz games? Were they recorded?
Mar-19-06  ahmadov: <PhilFeeley> But there were no blitz games, were there?

Joshka: <amahdov> <heard that Fischer was the honored guest of the tournament> Are you joking or did someone who was there convey this? Bobby's comments about Carlsen a year or so ago would lead me to believe he might have wanted to meet him. Would have to believe some of the participants had a chance to visit with him.
Apr-01-06  talisman: <Joshka> what did fischer say about carlsen?

Joshka: <talisman> Had read somewhere that Bobby stated that "Carlsen is better than I was at this age" or something like that.
Apr-01-06  like a GM: < Joshka: <talisman> Had read somewhere that Bobby stated that "Carlsen is better than I was at this age" or something like that.> I think it was Calrsen's trainer who said that.
Apr-01-06  sapfy: I don't think neither Fischer nor Agdestein has made such a comment. Kasparov on the other hand said exactly that about Bacrot back when he became the youngest GM in the world.
Apr-01-06  ahmadov: <Joshka> I was not joking about Fischer's presence at the tournament. I think I had read about that somewhere.
Apr-01-06  technical draw: Bobby Fischer played a game in the Reykjavik open disguised as Magnus Carlsen and lost to Persson!
Apr-01-06  Surrealist: 1.4. ... And who wants to tell the next story?

Tabanus: Au revoir. The two most notable missing games are

Vasilevich vs Ehlvest 1-0 (rd. 3)
Halldorsson vs Gaponenko 1-0 (rd. 3)
