Jan-17-14  kb2ct:

We have so many winning lines if he refuses to let us win the exchange that it confuses the engines and could cause voting problems.

:0)

Jan-17-14  DcGentle: <kb2ct>: I'd like to have your worries. ;-)
Jan-17-14  DcGentle: <kb2ct>: I have got a question. How did you like the game?
Jan-17-14  kb2ct:

<DcGentle:>

I chose not to trade bishops or harvest his c-oawn but play for speed not material.

I figured it could be changed at any point if difficulties were encountered.

I also though our e-pawn was at least as good as our d-pawn.

Rybka could not make up itd mind at many points and I had to choose for it

The higher the evaluation the more indecisive Rybka gets.

Analysis by Rybka 4: depth 17 ply

2. (-7.94): 48.Bc1 Bg5

<DcGentle: <kb2ct>: I have got a question. How did you like the game?>

The game was fine and taught me a lot.

I am usually the one saccing material and trying to wiggle out.

:0)

Jan-17-14  DcGentle: <kb2ct>: You know last time there was a mate line length of about 60 or less moves, here it's maybe 80 or less, but I already reached 69... I am trying to extend your line to mate.
Jan-17-14  DcGentle: <kb2ct>: Preliminary result: 71 moves. Not bad. Maybe there is more. ;-)
Jan-17-14  DcGentle: Ok, new record, 68 moves. ;-)
Jan-17-14  DcGentle: But, <kb2ct>, in your line, I guess that <35. Rd1> is stronger than <35. h4>, maybe.
Jan-17-14  chess gunners: Black move: 33...♗e3. Now if white precarioiusly take this bishop with pawn, my analysis:

34.fxe3 d2 35.♖g1 d1=♕ 36.♖xd1 ♖xd1 37.e5! ♖b8 38.e6+ ♔e8 39.♗d4 consolidating d-file and e3 pawn, black, astonishingly has 39...♖b5!

and White rook on f4 will be passive all the time!

AylerKupp: <<kb2ct> The higher the evaluation the more indecisive Rybka gets.>

Rybka has a long way to go to match COKO III's indecisiveness from the good old days of computer chess, circa 1971. Here is a link to my previous post on the position in question: Caruana vs Anand, 2013.

But have no fear, Rybka did find the winning move(s), not letting the high evaluation lead it astray.

Jan-17-14  DcGentle: <chess gunners>: Nice diagram :-)
Jan-17-14  DcGentle: <kb2ct> I am afraid your line doesn't set a new record, because after <35. Rd1> Black's g-rook cannot show up on e8 early enough.

It's the same as last time: Either you have a move that makes him resign early or you get a longer mate line.

Jan-17-14  DcGentle: <chess gunners>: So you signed up today! Interesting.

You know that we are allowed to use chess programs in this game as well?

Your analysis is correct, as far as I can see. We are winning.

If you have got any questions, just ask. :-)

Jan-17-14  chess gunners: I think Williams doesn't so powerful with Larsen 1.b3 and his choices for 5.g4 and 6.♗f1 is a bad one...
Jan-17-14  METOPEA: Bé3. Fine move.
Jan-17-14  RandomVisitor: I bet 50% chance he resigns, 50% chance he waits to the pawn promotion.
Jan-17-14  kb2ct:

<DcGentle: >

It might be faster and less confusing to the engines if we kept our d-pawn

RV would play a large role.
