May-27-06  Karpova: Nothing against you, ARMENIA, but reading through this conversation was funny.

Ashot Anastasian

ARMENIA: <Ashot jan... I love you and am fond of you very much!

Your talent has lit up the darkness that we are in... Your way of thinking has shown us a new way of success in chess!

God Bless you and God Bless Armenia>

Anastasia: <thx <armenia> i luv u 2>

ARMENIA: <Very funny>

May-29-06  Karpova: May-29-06 FIBChess vs ETABETA, 2006

whatthefat: <I think they need to introduce lifetime bans for programmers whose engines get beaten by FIBChess.>

May-30-06  EmperorAtahualpa: This hilarious post was made by <DeepBlade> in the Open Defence chessforum today:

[X= DeepBlade]
[O= Robert Schinkmann]
[Event: simul Tic Tac Toe]

Xa3 <NTO, Nunns TicTacToe Openings, gives this a big plus> Ob2<the center counter, MTO calls it a ''fighting defence''> Xc1! <a refreshing strategy, planning an attack on the weak corners> Oc3? <secures a chokepoint, but leaves a corner weakness> [DIAGRAM]? Xa1!! <A brilliant move, now O is facing 2 simultaneous threats> O Resigns due the forced mate in 1 (Oa2 Xb1# or Ob1 Xa2#)

My Immortal game, GM's send me e-mails about it all the time, all with extensive analysis. Also Fischer said this game is a theoretical draw, but I have my doubts.

P.s Xa1!! was such a deep move, Fritz 9 took 2 minutes to solve it! Ive also tried Deep Shredder and HIARCS 10, but still no improvement. Rybka didnt even find the move, after 5 minutes Infinite analysis!

  chancho: A long post. But a hilarious one.

<satkow: The year is 2065. Hikaru Nakamura is sitting around the fireplace telling his grandparents about the chess olympiad that took place in 2006. He reluctantly shows them the games he won against Grischuk and Sutovsky, worrying how they're going to react. As Hikaru expected, they are terribly upset with the fashion he won these games in. His youngest grandson says, "Grandfather you are a disgrace to the Nakamura family. Never in my life have I seen such inept play rewarded by a victory. I would rather lose than win in the morbid fashion you did. Hikaru responds, "You are correct, young Hikaru, I have disgraced the Nakamura name." Then in a mad frenzy he reaches above the mantleplace and grabs his samurai sword. All the grandchildren look on with horrified bulging eyes. With a few quick thrusts Hikaru Nakamura commits hari-kari. His dying words are as follows, "In 2006 I swindled two games from Grischuk and Sutovsky, I wasn't a great chessplayer after all. I was just a forlorn swindler. Please grandchildren learn from my mistakes and rise to heights i could never reach, next to Karpov, Kasparov, and Capablanca." He then dropps dead, while his grandchildren make an alliance to never disgrace the Nakamura name like their moronic grandfather did.>

Jun-04-06  hitman84: <Benzol: <WannaBe> Thanks. Actually I'm locked in mortal combat with <mandar> at the moment. I think I might have an edge or is that I'm just about to fall off of it? <hitman84> I won't forget you even as I'm on my way down. :)>
LMAO at myself.

On Hirtler <sneaky pete: Ardolf?>
Jun-17-06  Karpova: Jun-16-06 Arsen Yegiazarian

  chancho: I found this post on the
Charousek vs J Wollner, 1893 page.

<Dec-09-03 Promoted pawn: The beauty of this game may lie in the humanness of it. The missed checkmate (Qe8 on move 15) and blacks hyper-aggressive responses beforehand. "The Last Round" story that includes this game is one that should be read by all. It emphasizes the human angst that can hit any player during any chess game, especially where much seems to be at stake.

Dec-09-03 ughaibu: Promoted Pawn: There is no missed mate on move 15.>

Poor <Promoted Pawn> left three days later. Has not returned since.

Jun-19-06  blingice: <pleasebequiet> is a funnier version of <iamverywellatchess>, but they are the same person, I believe.

From D Marat vs Waitzkin, 1994:

<Whitehat1963: What's the crucial point in this game? Where does it begin to turn?>

<pleasebequiet: 48...1-0 seems to be a critical juncture.>

Another, from Unzicker vs Robatsch, 1961:

<pleasebequiet: Good lord. Stop with the comments about how easy the puzzles are. You come off as arrogant and obnoxious.

I am a better player than most of you. Since this is a fact, I am not arrogant or obnoxious like you. I am simply stating fact.>

From the same page:

<TrueBlue: I got this is 1 second, what's my IQ?>

<technical draw: your IQ is 1.>

From A Gabrielian vs I Nepomniachtchi, 2006 (Look at the game with this one):

<pleasebequiet: 28..."Hey baby, check out my e file." 29. "I'm screwed."
29..."Yup.">

  TheAlchemist: <Runemaster, Jun-26-06, Mieses vs Marshall, 1903 >:

<offramp: Why was the Czar of Russia handing out chess titles? Did he consider himself qualified? Can any head of state do that?>

I think the Governor of Florida has been handing out USCF titles for years.

Jun-28-06  percyblakeney: ...and the President of Kalmykia hands out some chess titles as well.
Jun-28-06  Appaz: <<TheAlchemist> I think the Governor of Florida has been handing out USCF titles for years.> ...and Presidencies.
Jul-07-06  Karpova: Jun-22-06 Kramnik vs Topalov, 1993

Topzilla: <Thanks to God WC Topalov wont accept short draws in his match against Drawnik.

Kramnik may remember WC Topalov is no Leko.>

SniperOnG7: <<topzilla> thanks for re-emphasizing your perspective on Topalov and Kramnik.>

  chancho: I found this at the Kibitzer's Cafe.

< Jilted Rook: The top 14 reasons why one would post at chessgames.com:-

1) A minor outlet for a publicity minded chess master (Susan Polgar)

2) A major outlet for a publicity craving minor master (AJ Goldsby)

3) An avenue of hope for a Woodpusher 'no friends' who wants to make even more no friends. (LMAJ!!)

4) An avenue of no hope for woodpushers who can only relate to people cyberspatially.

5) A chess fanatic who genuinely wants to improve his/her game but stumbles across a social life online they could only have dreamed of offline.

6) Chess enthusiasts who enjoy engaging in a little verbal sword-play while looking beyond the the relative merits of e4 - c5

7) Teenagers who claim they have have found the solution to the daily puzzle - when it's only premature ejaculation.

8) Happy spastics that blabber on inanely about their daily chores who surprisingly are taken aback by the lack of interest their monologues provoke.

9) Philosopher chess players who try to stampede accross discussions with their own polar neck jumper view of the world.

10) Irrepressible comedians who get the odd laugh only to realise their humanistic view of the world is wasted on chess geeks.

11) Experimental writers/sociologists who have half their posts removed by the mods because chess wimps can't fend for themselves.

12) Self-styled chess rapers who welcome new members with boringly unctuous red carpet receptions.

13) Individuals - that's right - INDIVIDUALS who enjoy and benefit from sharing their chess knowledge with others without doing any of the above.

14) People who consider themselves high and mighty by judging the actions of others:)>

Jul-07-06  JoeWms: The <Jilted Rook> post was distasteful when I read it in the Cafe. It is distasteful still.

That guy's got a chip on his shoulder. A macrochip.

Jul-09-06  Karpova: Jul-08-06 Morozevich vs McShane, 2001

jackmandoo: <Yea too bad the end is not even checkmate, looks like both players missed that the black king can go to H8. Looks like most everybody missed it. Yea I guess that's why I have a 78% win rating on yahoo.>

s4life: <35 ... Kh8, 36. Rf8#.>

Jul-09-06  melianis: On King's Gambit Accepted (C33) tpstar and sitzkrieg welcome:

tpstar: <Rustaa> Hello! Welcome to the group! I also play 3 ... d6 and usually meet 4. Bc4 with 4 ... h6. Your idea of 4 ... Be6 is interesting, although White does well with ... Mar-14-06
sitzkrieg: he said d6 and Bd6:)
Mar-14-06
tpstar: he meant d6 and Be6:)
Mar-15-06
sitzkrieg: You are a mind reader!

Jul-15-06  Karpova: Nov-28-05 Henrique Mecking

Koster: <<Our Lady told before Priest Gobbi, an Italian priest, that the End of the Times would happen until the year 2000; but God postponed it.>

Perhaps He is waiting until after the Topalov-Kramnik match.>

Jul-19-06  Chess Classics: I was browsing through some old kibitzer's cafe pages (#212 to be specific) and came upon the following post:

<Honza Cervenka: Chessgames.com, L Tan = L _A Tan = LA Tan = Tan Lian = Tan Lian Ann (SIN) = Tan Lian-Ann = Tan Lian-Ann (SIN) = Tan Lian Ann>

Regards,
CC

<Dec-23-04 Dave Murray: You mean 2619 for fide rating, right? :)>

<Dec-29-04
Knight13: <Dave Murray> Maybe his rating changed. ;) Because I haven't looked at some of the games he played, he is not my favorite player anymore.>

<Dec-30-04 BiLL RobeRTiE: Kill yourself.>
