Another Morphy simul. Across the darkened, stained wet, barren fields, of another foul winter's evening, their scorecards blown away, carried away by the windy wet sleet, towards the soaked, grey doom-ridden factory chimneys and cobbled squalor smoke, of the everyday life. Death, in a life, in a clouded, gloomy tomb town, in a haggard, trodden, wet land of discernably enthusiastic unshaven chess-playing bog-dwellers and princes; and in places where the locals had cleared and burnt the larger patch to play on, and had there, sprungeth forth allotments and nests of opposite coloured wooden men, dwelling as fixed and finely sculpted squatters amongst their cowering pieces, petrified, awaiting the next Morphy move, bared to the brilliantly offensive violation of another threat, removing any lingering vestiges of pride or integrity and adding to the diminishing shelf-life of , the King. <pleasebequiet>:
I'll take a stab at it.
This was a chess game. Chess is a game invented long ago. This game of chess involved two players with impressive ratings. Ratings are used to measure the strength of the player. Generally, the higher the rating, the stronger the player. This particular game of chess ended with the player moving the white pieces winning. At this time, I would be happy to answer any more of your questions. |

<It amuses me how some minor master and his fritz vainly bash at the wall of Caissa, hoping to conclusively prove that one move decides the win 40 moves later. May-23-06 | | dakgootje: what is the maximum lenght of a quote? =p
Reason i ask it: some time ago, around mid feb 2006, there was some 'discussion' involving yak milk... The ones who did read it remember it instantly, others havent got a clue what im talking about. Fact is that the participants wrote it at a game and thus chessgames.com admins removed it, as it obviously didnt have anything to do with the game... Now, it was all together around 4 pages long... does it still count as quote, as you cant link to it as the comments are removed |
|
May-24-06
 | | TheAlchemist: <dakgootje> Exchanges are welcome too, I've posted a few myself already. Regarding the length, usually I don't care, but I did some editing on say <Ezzy>'s quote in the bio, where I cut out the introdiction for space purposes. Now, regarding your question... did you copy the whole exchange and still have it or are you asking if someone else does? 4 pages seems a bit long, if you have it, we may go through it and cut out the less relevant and less funny parts. I know this is arbitrary, but 4 pages would be, in my opinion, too confusing and it would probably discourage people from reading it all. |
|
May-24-06 | | dakgootje: < too confusing and it would probably discourage people from reading it all.> Probably true, which is one of the reasons i asked it. For whether i have it: Of course! ;-)
they deleted it, so when i still had the chance i obviously copied the lot =) But like i can post here a part of the comments all in one slightly bigger post, so you wont get 4 pages (i guess the pages are about number of posts instead of lenght?) |
|
May-24-06
 | | TheAlchemist: <dakgootje> Then by all means post it :-) I think one post would be the best idea, the rest is up to you to decide. |
|
May-24-06 | | dakgootje: ill see how big the post can become:
Abcpokerboy: Please ignore Jackmandoo, as he is wont to exaggerate. I remember the first time we met, over an early brunch, atop Mount Everest as we had started climbing that morning after a late breakfast. We were each there to bury our best friend, his, John Adams and mine, Thomas Jefferson, who ironically had died the same day we met, July 4, 1826. As we played an offhand game of chess while lugging their ersatz coffins (I wouldn't really call a large brandy bottle a coffin, but Jack disagrees), a game, by the way which undoubtedly the most brilliant in chess history, I remember him regaling me with many a tale which I thought apocryphal at best. It was there I realized he might fudge the truth a bit, and I should know as I invented fudge just for the world's fair of 1493 which we held in Spain in the garage of a guy named Bernie's house. Anyhow, we scaled the North side of the mountain, the most dangerous of course, dictating our moves by an early version of cell-phone Jack had invented, and whose discovery I envy to this day. After burying the bottles (and the sorry carcasses within), we snowboarded down the mountain in a matter of minutes, never to meet again until someone came up with this here chessgames website. That's how I know to be skeptical of Jackmandoo's claims, entertaining though they may be. midknightblue: I recall the two of you stopping in for a cup of coffee at my quaint little coffee shop/general store aat the base of Everest prior to your climbs. I would have sworn that you were best of friends all your lives. I had no idea those gadgets in your hands were what we now commonly refer to as "cell phones." Anyway, I have been in search of the pgn files of your games for 180 years, could you please post the games? abcpokerboy: <midnightblue>, you think you're getting the pgn of that game with just a premium membership at this admittedly well run site? No go, shlomo. For genius like this, you gotta join my favorite website, www.helpmakeabcpokerboyfilthyrichsohecantakeoverthewor-
ld.com (we tried for .org status but those mucky-mucks in cyberspace said we weren't worthy-the nerve of them!!). And no nickel and dime memberships either!!! We're talking foldable money here, with pictures of dead guys, dead guys who I buried on other fearless treks!! Only by doing this can you achieve true chess enlightenment, Chester!!
P.S. Don't think for a second that I didn't realize that the yak's milk latte I ordered came with wildebeast milk insted. I'm onto you, Midnightblue!! midknightblue: we stand by our products. In everest, it is a common standard to replace yak's milk with wildebeast milk. If you were unhappy with your beverage, then please return to our humble establishment for a full refund. p.s. we have relocated to the south face of the mountain.
kindest regards,

morpstau: P.S. Don't think for a second that I didn't realize that the yak's milk latte I ordered came with wildebeast milk insted. I'm onto you, Midnightblue!! midknightblue: The echoes on thisiehere mountain are incredible. misguidedaggression: <midknightblue> It is common knowledge that all known jackmandoo brilliancies are heavily annotated at AJ Goldsby's website! With AJ's new improved navigational system in place, you'll have that .pgn file in a matter of months! (Beware: The average Goldsby annotated jackmandoo brilliancy is known to have enough random color changes and gratuitus exclaimation points to cause human eyes to bleed!)
p.s. I'm pretty sure www.helpmakeabcpokerboyfilthyrichsohecantakeoverthewor-
