Apr-28-18 | | Marmot PFL: Sad to see the Gashimov end...wish I had doubled up there and skipped the US ch, which has too many players I know next to nothing about. |

 | | juan31: Gracias <Chessgames Bookie> |
Apr-28-18 | | sydbarrett: What's after US ch? How long must we wait for more action |

 | | WannaBe: I find it interesting, that "Weird First Move" bet did not settle until the event (US Championship) was over. Hence, one of the 'bet' that I have asked for in the past "Epic Game" have rarely been offered for the event, but have been offered for the round. Is this because the way bookie software is programmed? I do not think, that once 1. b4 was played, the betting ticket would not have been paid or 'discard'ed. I bring this up, because for the upcoming Championship match, "Epic Game" proposition would be nice to have. But once a game goes over 100 moves, the ticket should be able to be paid or losing ticket be discarded. =) |

 | | WannaBe: Correction, the even is not over, but it was settled two or three games after 1. b4 was played... |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <sydbarrett: What's after US ch? How long must we wait for more action> I think after the U.S. Championship <syd> we are in a bit of a 'lull'. There is the Russian Team Championship 2018 from May 1st thru May 10th but those are tricky.
I remember <SwitchingQuylthulg> ran some Team Championship games but you have to bet the Teams & not the players because the pairings for the players were never posted in time. We could look into that. Russian Team Championship: http://ruchess.ru/en/news/all/russi... |

 | | FSR: <WannaBe> "Weird First Move" should not be settled until the event is over because (unlike an "Epic Game" bet) it was not just a Yes/No bet. There were bets on which of the weird moves would be played. Right now the 1.b3 and 1.b4 lines pay out. There could be a third (fourth? fifth? . . .) line that also pays out if one or more other weird move(s) is/are played in the last round. |

Apr-29-18 | | sydbarrett: The Loanshark keeps verbally abusing me. He keeps telling me to get the $!%! out of there. Can I report him. ;( |

 | | Chessgames Bookie: <FSR: There could be a third (fourth? fifth? . . .) line that also pays out if one or more other weird move(s) is/are played in the last round.> lol wanna bet some chessbucks on that? |
Apr-29-18
 | | FSR: <Chessgames Bookie> I would not be totally shocked if someone played 1.g3 or even 1.f4. But if I were to bet on whether a new weird first move (besides 1.b3 and 1.b4) will occur in the last round, I would bet on "NO" - unless of course the odds on "YES" were very favorable. The odds of two or more new weird first moves appearing in the last round are very small. |
Apr-29-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: <FSR> I thought someone would play 1.b3 & I was right about that. 1.b4 took me by surprise. I never thought this bet would be a split payoff. |
Apr-29-18
 | | WannaBe: <FSR> You are correct, I thought it was just Yes/No. Failed to realize/remember the bet had specific first moves. My bad. |
Apr-29-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: There were no new weird moves in that 'Weird First Moves' bet so the bet was paid off correctly. |
Apr-30-18 | | morfishine: I scored on weird <1.b3> but not until very late Thanks <Chessgames Bookie>! Nice administration and lots of fun! |
Apr-30-18 | | Marmot PFL: <I scored on weird <1.b3> but not until very late> Figured it was about 50-50 with Naka playing. |

 | | Annie K.: Yeah, I covered some Team Championships too. Not as interesting without board pairings, but it's something. :) Also, maybe this could be covered, if we're desperate enough: http://www.fide.com/index.php?optio... (Women's World Championship Match 2018 - Tan Zhongyi and Ju Wenjun)... ;) |
Apr-30-18 | | WinKing: <Annie K.: Also, maybe this could be covered, if we're desperate enough: http://www.fide.com/index.php?optio... (Women's World Championship Match 2018 - Tan Zhongyi and Ju Wenjun)... ;)> That's the one I'm eyeballin' <Annie K.>.
I like it better than the Team stuff. |
Apr-30-18 | | WinKing: We need more information on both events though. |
Apr-30-18
 | | Annie K.: If we're lucky, chess24 will decide to cover them, and solve all your problems... ;) |
Apr-30-18 | | WinKing: <Annie K.: If we're lucky, chess24 will decide to cover them, and solve all your problems... ;)> Let's hope. :) |
May-02-18 | | zborris8: How much longer is the break going to last? I wouldn't mind, but we shouldn't be charged a daily fee for loans if the Bookie is closed and there are no events being held for us to pay them back. |
May-02-18 | | morfishine: <Chessgames Bookie: <sydbarrett: What's after US ch? How long must we wait for more action> I think after the U.S. Championship <syd> we are in a bit of a 'lull'> So, the schedule is not known? |
May-02-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Pickens' are slim right now all. I found a few games to list from the Nakhchivan Open 2018 being played in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. |
May-02-18 | | morfishine: Thanks <Chessgames Bookie>! We need lots of chess stuff to indulge our chess interests before the WC, and thats months off! Other sports that hold majority interest are college football & NFL, but those are ~4 months off. One has to be satisfied with NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs, Major championship golf or Baseball. So a big thanks to your efforts! |
May-02-18
 | | Chessgames Bookie: Thanks <morf>! I'm really trying to find 'quality' games for the members to bet on. Right now it is just slow & will continue to be so until Norway. Let's not give up hope though. I really hope someone covers the
Women's World Championship but I haven't seen anything yet. |
