Dec-20-09 | | redwhitechess: that website give a live games where any chess board are being shown at once. what a great idea! even though it become too small then for each board. go malakhov and ivanchuck! |
Dec-20-09 | | mysql: <khulakeg:Using my chess programs, malakhov has been playing with greater superiority than the <loud-mouthed> ponomariov> What do you mean loud-mouthed? |
Dec-20-09 | | returnoftheking: Malakhov won the European rapid championship ahead of Ivanchuk, Gashimov, Movsesian, Shirov and many others. Looks like his work for the world cup pays off! |
Apr-11-10 | | The Rocket: lol this guys stats are better than kramnik and anand, Does he only play "weaker" tournaments or whats up? |
Apr-11-10
 | | Open Defence: perhaps, being a full time scientist might not leave him with time to do more.. |
Apr-11-10 | | blueofnoon: Russian players seldom get invitations from super tournaments. Therefore, they have to play in open tournaments, team tournaments and "2nd tier" closed tournaments to make a living. (ok, I know Malakhov is not professional) This raises their stats of course, but whether they are happy with it I am not sure. |
Apr-11-10 | | SamAtoms1980: Malakhov went 3-1, drawing four, in the Russian Team Championships (2010), including 3½ points in the last 4 rounds. Way to go Malakhov! |

Jul-24-10 | | sleepkid: Somehow I don't think his current FIDE rating is 2107. Chessgames might want to fix that. |
Aug-15-10 | | Cercatore: Current FIDE rating: 2107
Highest rating achieved in database: 2732
Error, or he lost 600 elo points? |
Sep-05-10 | | polarmis: Apart from the slight error in the current FIDE rating :) it's also not true to say that Malakhov's main line of work is as a physicist. He's a professional chess player, though perhaps a slightly eccentric one! I just translated this very interesting recent interview: http://www.chessintranslation.com/2... |
Nov-27-10 | | Birthday Boy: Happy Birthday!! Vladimir Malakhov!!! |
Dec-29-10 | | HolyKnight: Yea my hobby is nuclear physicist to. |

Feb-26-11 | | rapidcitychess: What's up with this guy's rating? 2700 to 2100 seems weird. |
Mar-15-11 | | hedgeh0g: <Part-time> nuclear physicist? |
Jun-30-11 | | nisarg1: No, he's a part-time chess player according to non-chess sources: he's got a Ph.D. and is said to play chess for hobby. |
Jun-30-11
 | | Troller: Unless he has begun working as a phycisist again he should be considered a professional chess player, at least according to his own words at the last World Cup. |
Jun-30-11 | | polarmis: <nisarg1>, see the interview above. "Non-chess sources" can't really be more reliable than his own words. |
Sep-21-11 | | Catfriend: <My my, googled your username and it looks like Malakhov is not the only scientist. Have you ever met <User: Catfriend; ? :)> Catfriend? :) I'm not a physicist! I'm a mathematician! |
Nov-27-11 | | talisman: happy birthday and good luck in the next world cup! |
Mar-28-12
 | | Penguincw: Malakhov is now in a three-way tie for first at the 13th European Individual Championship (2012) with 6.5/8. Tomorrow, he faces co-leader Vladimir Akopian with black. |
Mar-28-12 | | twinlark: It's good to see this very interesting player regain his form after a 2 year slump. |
Mar-31-12
 | | Penguincw: Malakhov finished with a bronze after tie breaks, with 8/11. |
