Dec-30-04 | | InfinityCircuit: Bumped into Drammen because of Agdstein's illness, he has so far scored 2.5/4 in four rounds against GMs 100 to 200 points above him. 24 years old as of last month, he also hails from Norway. |
Jan-05-05 | | iron maiden: Congratulations to Lie, who just gained the final part of his GM title with an impressive even score. |
Apr-16-05 | | azaris: And Lie finished in style.

May-22-05 | | MrSifter: Anyone know if he hit 2500 with that performance in Gausdal? |
Aug-10-05 | | jcmoral: Any relation to Odd Lie? |
Aug-10-05 | | Robin01: Brother?? "Can tell a lie" as opposed to just an "odd lie." |
Aug-10-05
 | | TheAlchemist: Kjetil A Lie: "I am not related to Odd Lie." |
Aug-10-05 | | Runemaster: <TheAlchemist. LOL |
Aug-31-05 | | MoonlitKnight: GM Lie will probably hit 2500 pretty soon. He did well in the European Team Championship. Interestingly enough, he is on the chessgames.com list of players who make winning sacrifices most often, a list that mostly consists of 19th century romantics. Some people call him the "Norwegian Tal", and if you want to know why, just check out the utterly brilliant K Lie vs I Cheparinov, 2005. |
Oct-29-05 | | Whitehat1963: The GREATEST PLAYER EVER!! |
Nov-12-05 | | lopium: ahahazz!!! Why?? Is him that beautiful?? Probably not more than Bruzon :) |
Sep-29-06 | | joebuck: With one round to go in Gausdal, GM Lie has a very good chance of winning it all. He has an impressive score of 5.5/6. Live games and info at http://www.live.sjakk.net/ |
Sep-30-06 | | nescio: <joebuck: With one round to go in Gausdal> According to http://home.online.no/%7Eeirikgu/by... there are three more rounds to play, but of course Lie has all the chances. He is one point ahead. BTW I was amazed by Akesson-Miezis, round 5. If chessgames.com does not include this tournament in their database I'll publish that game on the Miezis page. |
Nov-23-06 | | letekro: I just watched him get spanked by a 2000 player in 5/0 on ICC. |
Nov-23-06 | | OneArmedScissor: What's his name on ICC? |
Nov-24-06
 | | egilarne: <OneArmedScissor>: GM Kjetil A Lie is Vigleik on ICC |
Apr-26-07 | | Ingolf: The lie detector test producer advertising on this page should probably think about targeting potential customers more accurately. |
Jun-03-07 | | Appaz: Congratulations to Kjetil A Lie for his coaching of Carlsen in the Candidates. 3-3 against Aronian, including two wins, what a success! |
Jun-30-07 | | Appaz: Lie playing for tournament victory in Pula Open: http://www.a1split.hr/live2/live2.h... |

Aug-10-07 | | mr.fisk: We need some action on this page! Lie is playing the chess of his life in Tromso, http://arcticchess.org/engindex.htm |
Aug-11-07 | | Appaz: <mr.fisk> He surley deserves more attention. A quick summary: 6.5/7 with two rounds to go, a TPR of 2782 and Magnus Carlsen up next. You need luck to win a tournament, and Lie has had his fair share of it so far, like when Mikhalevski missed the winning 33.Qxf6! Against Carlsen his chances lays in playing white with good knowledge of both the style and openings of his opponent. The "friends factor" can also easily compensate for a couple of hundred rating points. Go, Kjetil, one more for Telemark! |
Aug-11-07 | | cotdt: Lie was Carlsen's second and knows Carlsen's playing style well. Lie's playing style is amazing, sacrifices and hanging peices everywhere. Be sure not to miss today's game against Carlsen! |

Aug-11-07
 | | Peligroso Patzer: As posted hereinabove on Aug-10-05:
<TheAlchemist: Kjetil A Lie: "I am not related to Odd Lie." >From a posting today on the Magnus Carlsen page (#600): <whiteshark: <Peligroso Patzer ...Kjetil Lie - any relation to the notorious Odd Lie, I wonder?> Yes Kjetil A Lie and Espen Lie are grandchildren of Odd Lie.
User: Tabanus, whom is also paricipating at the Arctic Chess Challenge in Tromsö asked Kjetil Lie directly a few days ago...> So which statement is the real odd lie?
Aug-11-07 | | Karpova: <Tabanus: I asked GM Lie today. He and IM Lie are brothers, and Odd Lie was their *grandfather*. I told him about the Odd Lie page on cg.com... I don't think he'll be offended.>
User: Tabanus There's no need not to trust him. And <Tabanus> had the chance to ask him (he played against Lie in the first round) |
