Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-14-05  DanRoss53: Very nice game by Lie. Looks like 35... ♖d8? sealed the victory for White...although Black would have had a hard time equalising with any move.
Jul-19-05  iron maiden: He pretty much did himself in with 33...d4. He's been making a lot less of these blunders lately though.
Jul-20-05  acirce: This was the second game of the day, and Carlsen's first one was the marathon game Carlsen vs O Hole, 2005 while Lie's was the 11-move draw E Fossan vs K Lie, 2005. Presumably Carlsen was rather tired. He could hardly use Lie's strategy in his game either with White against a so much lower rated player, not that I am sure he would have in either case.
Nov-23-06  OneArmedScissor: No need to make excuses.
In the end, the only acceptable response is, "no excuses."
Jan-02-09  WhiteRook48: Lie said to Carlsen, "You'll win" but it was a fat old lie... :)
Jan-18-10  jmboutiere: With 2810, today Carlsen is OK.
Nov-25-23  Messiah: Ah, a classic! :'D
