Jun-14-04  ARMENIA: God Bless Ashot for his lessons that he has taught many!!! Another proud son of Armenia!
Jun-14-04  orthochess: What is the secret of Aermenia having lots of GM's ??? Great players, lil country..... So nice....
Jun-14-04  ARMENIA: Our history has taught us many unforgettable lessons...
Jun-27-04  rochade18: Looking back in history one can see that the Armenian armys were always smaller than the enemy's. So when both armys have the same strength (like in chess) the Armenians have an advantage ;)
Jul-01-05  ARMENIA: Ashot jan... I love you and am fond of you very much!

Your talent has lit up the darkness that we are in... Your way of thinking has shown us a new way of success in chess!

God Bless you and God Bless Armenia

Sep-01-05  Anastasia: thx <armenia> i luv u 2
Oct-18-05  ARMENIA: Very funny
Jan-06-06  blingice: I suppose you have to do more than be a GM and win a National Championship to get a picture or a multi-sentence biography.

Jul-16-07  arnaud1959: Thanks bidmonfa for the link. Some interesting points that I saw in the chronology of the Armenian Championship: -After becoming champion in 1980, Smbat Lputian waited for 18 years to win the title once again. -Vaganian has never been champion.
-And finally, Anastassian became champion at the age of 19 only, but never a top player. It shows how much the level of chess in Armenia is high and that one must be very talented and work hard to get to the top level.
May-02-08  Whitehat1963: as hot as what?
May-22-09  WhiteRook48: what did he come up with? Anastasia's mate?
Jul-16-09  wordfunph: Happy Birthday Armenian GM Ashot Anastasian!
Jul-16-09  kurtrichards: Eight (8) times Armenian champion. Great. Happy Birthday, GM Ashot Anastasian!
Jul-16-10  wordfunph: <kurtrichards: Eight (8) times Armenian champion.>

GrahamClayton: Anastasian did not participate in the 2008 Armenian Chess Championship after slipping on ice and breaking his coccyx on the way to the Chess House.

"I stumbled and fell on the ice on Abovian Street. The fracture is awfully hurting now. I can neither sit nor lie. The recovery will probably last ten days."

Oct-02-13  PhilFeeley: This interesting game is not here:

Perpetual check at the end I guess. The rook prevents advance and the king prevents queening. Very interesting game.

I'm not sure about 26. Rxf6. Perhaps the exchange sacrifice was necessary to decrease black's firepower on the king side.

I don't know why white played 30. Nc5 instead of Nd6.

Oct-10-13  PhilFeeley: Also missing this fine game. Queen and rook endings are so exciting. One tiny slip and you're done for.
