Alexander Zubov was joint third in the 2003 World Junior Championship and joint first in the 2003 Ukraine U-20 Championship. He was =1st (2nd on tiebreak) at the 10th Nana Aleksandria Cup 2015.

He is also a second to Sergey Karjakin.
