 | | Benzol: Btw anybody know what Susan Lalic's maiden name was before she married Bogden? |
|
Dec-07-04 | | weary willy: Maiden name = Walker. Name before marrying Bogdan = Arkell (married Keith Arkell). Susan Walker = Susan Arkell = Susan Lalic |

Born 28th October 1965
Awarded WIM title in 1985
A big thankyou to <ray keene> and <weary willy> for helping out with the information regarding her maiden name before she married both Keith Arkell and Bogdan Lalic. Perhaps <chessgames.com> should merge the three files into one as they did in the case of Jana Malypetrova Hartston Miles Bellin. |

 | | Benzol: Correction, that should be two files not three.

 | | Benzol: <BIDMONFA> Why don't you merge this player's file with that of
Susan Arkell ? |
|
Oct-28-06 | | franksp: Suggestion.
Introduce aliases or akas. A player could be known by more than one name e.g. Susan Arkell and Susan Lalic. This would be useful not only to cover searches for female players who have changed their name by marriage but also for players whose name is spelt differently by different people. I once was puzzled when the name, Tchigorin, was missing from the database. Now I know CG uses the name Chigorin. But why not allow Chigorin/Tchigorin to be found using either name? It might also be interesting to see a list of aliases on the players page. |

What was your most embarrassing moment at the chess board? SL: I offered my opponent a draw and then tried to withdraw the offer 10 minutes later before he had answered. All this with an International Selector looking on.> |

Nov-01-18 | | JimNorCal: In Nov 2018, it is interesting that 2 of her most played openings are French and French Defense.
Seems to be a bit of an overlap, no?
Im guessing that there is a flaw in game sorting where some games are labeled with one label and some games are labeled with the other. For example C11 shows up 4 times, twice as White and twice as Black. |

Aug-07-21 | | Nosnibor: Should not her name be changed to Susan Buckley bearing in mind that she is married to Graeme Buckley? I played her once shortly before her first marriage to Keith Arkell. This was way back in the Derby Open under the auspices of the Midland Counties Championships in March 1986. I won a very long game against her Scotch Opening in the penultimate round. |

|
Aug-07-21 | | Z legend of CG: <Nosnibor> I don't know, it's just usually easiest (and perhaps best) to just follow FIDE, who hopefully follows the player's preferences. In this case, even though it seems she's been married to Buckley since at least 2009 (when exactly?): https://en.chessbase.com/post/londo... all the literature has consistently been referring to her as Lalic. (From wiki we learn that Olimpbase once referred to her as Susan Arkell, and 365chess as Susan Walker - maybe she got tired of all the rigmarole of changing her name) |

Interestingly, <Z's> actual legal name is <zanzibar>! He made headlines a few years back when he tried to sue the Webster's Online Dictionary for supplying an "incorrect entry" for the word "zanzibar." |
