Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-13-07  sagahelten: Palle Ravn was a Danish chess talent, but chose to pursue a 'normal' career. In the absence of Bent Larsen he won the Danish Championship 1957. Two years before he had shared the Copenhagen Championship with Larsen. His greatest achievement was his draw against Petrosian in the Olympiad Munich 1958 (Ravn vs Petrosian, 1958), a game which Petrosian added to his book with selected games.
Dec-13-07  xrt999: cool name
Dec-13-07  pawnofdoom: Maybe cool, but how exactly do you pronounce his last name? Like rah-ven or what?
Dec-14-07  Larsker: <how exactly do you pronounce his last name> [pal-leh raun]. Ravn is Danish for raven. I don't see the cool bit - except for Poe lovers.

Dec-14-07  Larsker: Ravin' is the cool bit? Oh. I'm in awe.

His favourite opening was the Bird.

Dec-13-08  brankat: Not all that glitters is gold :-)

Certainly not in case of Gary G.

Dec-13-08  brankat: Happy Birthday master Ravn!
