I'm a danish Icelander living in Denmark, and I'm dr. phil. in German Literature (Subject: Esotericism in the Work of Rainer Maria Rilke). I started playing chess more intensively when I was 16 years old; after a couple of years, school prevented me from pursuing chess as more than an occisional hobby. For five years I've been training harder. I waste too much time on blitz, though. My playing strength is probably about 1700 or 1800. I hope to be able to test this some day.

sagahelten: Is there no live commentary of the Women World Chess Championship? Chess24 doesn't seem to cover it, they only show the games with computer analysis.

sagahelten: Tomorrow, IM Gudmundur Kjartansson (2468) has black against Svidler (2739) & GM Hannes Stefansson has black against Topalov (2800). Good luck, fellow Icelanders!

   Jan-29-15 W Ju vs Wei Yi, 2012

sagahelten: This 2200-player just won against Motylev! Is he a major talent?

   Aug-12-14 J Vang Glud vs D Howell, 2014 (replies)

sagahelten: The computer actually says: draw (0.00). Tragic. And he even had a won position at one point.

sagahelten: Chessbase: "The news of the day was that Super-GM Alexei Shirov (above left) lost to a 14-year-old player and was knocked out of the World Cup. Chinese GM Wei Yi, the youngest participant in Tromsø, played imaginative, fearless chess and wound up in an ending where he had three ...

sagahelten: Interesting that Carlsen both makes few mistakes AND plays complex positions. This makes him special. (As if anybody doubted that).
