WannaBe: Pen may be mightier than the sword, but not against Alekhine.
Oct-07-07  Calli: The name is obviously a nom de plume used by Alekhine to fake another score. Kind of a Pen name you might say ;->
Aug-06-09  whiteshark: Pen guins aren't good @ chess. It's this black and white thing, you know ?

  jessicafischerqueen:

This is the announcement of the simul from the Odessa News, Sunday Dec. 22:

<"A simultaneous exhibition by famous chess player A.A. Alekhine will be held today at noon in the restaurant of the Central Hotel... He will take on all comers. Players are kindly requested to bring their own chess sets.">

-Sergei Tkachenko "Alekhine's Odessa Secrets" (Elk and Ruby Publishing House 2018), p.100

Intriguingly, the notice does not require that players kindly bring their own pens...
