Feb-11-02  knight: Black should not have lost this game.He should have placed more attention on white's passed d-pawn before it got too strong.
Apr-22-06  Whitehat1963: Proving that while the pen might be mightier than the sword, Alekhine ...
Oct-01-07  whiteshark: <Whitehat1963> ... and it's incredibly easier to write with
Oct-01-07  Calli: Is Alekhine bluffing here? After 16.Bxe6?!, why not 16...fxe6 17.Rxe6 Qf5 Where is the sockdolager? if 18.Re7+ Bd5 or 18.Re5+ Qf7 for instance.

Oct-01-07  whiteshark: <Calli: <Is Alekhine bluffing here?>> Yes he is. Maybe a miscalculation. If 18.Nh4 Qd5 or 18. Re3+ Bd5
Oct-01-07  Calli: Looked up the game in the big book of Alekhine. Skinner and Verhoeven say it was played 16 December 1918 at an Odessa simul. AA played 31 boards, but his result is not known. Black is given as "I Pen".

So in a simul, it could either be a miscalculation or just disrespect for the opponent.

Dec-17-14  TheFocus: From a simul in Odessa, Ukraine on December 16, 1918.

Alekhine's score is not known.
