Phony Benoni: <"W.G. Morris, long a prominent member of the I. L. Rice Progressive Chess Club, died suddently last Monday. He was buried in Richmond County Cemetery."> -- New York Herald, Sunday, Janury 26, 1919, Second section, p.11.
Feb-15-14  whiteshark: The Monday before <Sunday, January 26, 1919> was

<January 20, 1919 <(†)>>

Mar-05-15  Calli: Find-a-grave gives birth year of 1868, while Winter C.N. 9135 cites Gaige giving his death at age 38 (which would mean he was born circa 1881).

http://chesshistory.com/winter/inde...

Find-A-Grave gives the detail that his family was nearly wiped out by the cholera epidemic. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/f...

Given the age of his brothers, 1868 seems more likely.
