GrahamClayton: Tate played in the 1968 British Championship aged 19, but the lack of games in the database after this suggest that he gave either totally gave the game away, or only played in club chess. Does anyone know either way?
Mar-14-17  Nosnibor: It should go on record that in 1967 he won the British U21 Championship and also shared the Northern Open Junior title the year before. After 1968 he appeared only to play local club and county chess.
Mar-29-17  Leslie Tate: Thank you GrahamClayton and Nosibor for your comments. When I went to university I gave up chess in favour of writing. After a career in teaching I'm now an author. I still play chess in my head when I go to sleep! My website is: www.leslietate.com
