  perfidious: Peter wasn't <that> bad a guy.

Believe he won the unrated section at (possibly) the first NY Open in 1983, while at university here in the States.

The one time we met was in a Boston Met League match in the 1984-85 season. My recollection is that the opening was a Pirc and we had a fighting draw. Seemed a decent sort.

Jonathan Sarfati: Here is his Linked In profile. Yes, he went to the USA and has a very good career, first in academics then in private companies https://www.linkedin.com/in/peterma...
Aug-13-20  mckmac: I had the good fortune to be friends with Peter when we were at Highschool. Our fathers worked together in construction. Peter played in goal for the school's first eleven soccer team and achieved legendary distinction in his studies. He also owned top board on the school chess team.
