Aug-03-14  bystander: Jorden van Foreest achieved his third masternorm. He scored 6 out of 9 in Vaugany, France. Because he already met the rating requirements of the FIDE, he is expected to get the title soon. (Source: KNSB-website, announcement dated 21-07-2014)

Penguincw: I'm a day late, but whatever:

Congrats to Jorden van Foreest for remaining one of just 4 players still perfect through <2> rounds at the Aeroflot Open (2015). Out of those 4 players, he's the only U18 and only non-GM to do so. He's also just the 61st seed.

In Round 3, he'll face Ildar Khairullin with white, who upset top seed Mamedyarov in Round 2.

Penguincw: After starting 3.5/4 (which includes the forfeited I Salgado Lopez vs J van Foreest, 2015), van Foreest stumbles a bit, but still finishes with 5/9 (+3,-2,=4). He is in the middle of a 14-way tie for 18th (26th on tiebreaks). He was the 61st seed, and 26th is the highest among all non-GMs, U18 players (actually 2nd) and Dutch players. He also gains 16.2 rating points to go from 2493 to 2509.

Looks like this tournament was enough to give him the GM title, as his rating will now be over 2500.

However, I'm not sure if he already has enough norms. Nevertheless, this should count as a GM norm, as there were GMs from about 10 countries and he had a TPR of 2645.

Penguincw: At the "Open Teplice 2015 International Chess Tournament", van Foreest had a decent performance with 6/9 (+4,-1,=4), but his 2490 TPR isn't good enough for a GM norm.

Say, does he already have enough norms?

Penguincw: Jorden van Foreest is at it again! Through 4 rounds, he's currently the lowest rated player and only non-GM still perfect at that tournament.

In R5, he'll have black against the #1 Dutch participant: Loek van Wely.

Aug-08-15  fisayo123: He came clear 2nd with 7.5/9 at the Hogeschool Zeeland tournament ahead of several GM's.

Stonehenge: He scored his third GM norm here: World Junior Championship (2015).
Jan-16-16  waustad: I wonder why his GM application is still listed as "open" though it was to be considered in the 4th quarter meeting for 2015. Here is some info: http://ratings.fide.com/title_appli...

Penguincw: GM Jorden van Foreest had a good tournament at the Teplice Open, scoring 6.5/9 (+5,-1,=3). He only finished half a point behind the 7 co-winners, but a penultimate loss to top seed GM Sergei Movsesian was costly.

On the bright side, he did gain 6 rating points, moving up to a career high 2584, and he still isn't an adult yet (17 years old)!

Aug-29-16  cro777: Dutch champion at 17!

"GM Sergei Tiviakov withdrew from the Dutch Championship 2016 shortly before the start. His pupil, 17-year-old GM Jorden van Foreest (also from Groningen) got the replacement spot. With fresh and fearless chess, Van Foreest emerged the winner."

Anish Giri:"Good KID, Jorden!"

Jorden's game against Ernst involved exchange sacrifice and lots of complications.

The fact that Arnold and Dirk were brothers doesn't mean they were both Jorden's great-great grandfather :)
