offramp: Esipenko is up against the wall. I think Giri will win this game, and he could register 3 wins in a row! (Although one would be a DE-FAULT.)

PawnSac: this pawn roller seems inevitable. but E better get a move on or he'll lose on time or make a rushed blunder
Jan-23-22  Gregor Samsa Mendel: Cue the dancing rook. White's last chance was for black to blunder and play my first choice, 47..Re2+.

Atterdag: Great game by Giri, who really has returned to the race after his defeat against Carlsen. Giri's black pawn avalance was mighty but it had to be conducted skillfully.

An Englishman: Good Evening: A fresh surprise--the DB has two games with Black's piece sacrifice. 16...Ne5 is the new move.
Jan-24-22  Ulhumbrus: Instead of 25 Rd4, 25 Rad1 develops the worst placed piece, the queen's rook.

28 Nf5 neglects the worst placed piece, the knight on h2. If the knight is to be the equal at least of Black's three pawns White has to find a way to make it count.
